    Great Video! I have the 000-15M for a couple years now and it's perfect for playing late at night while my wife's sleeping. It's got the sweetest most balanced sound that you often get with an all mahogany guitar. I was fortunate to get a tour of the Martin Factory in PA this past June and got to play all the Martin guitars they had hanging in their player's room. Pretty much every guitar was there except for the 42 and 45 models. I played them all over a couple hours as there were just a few us there.... The one that blew me away was not my "dream" guitar, the 000-28, but it was the 000-16 Streetmaster with its VTS Adirondack spruce top and rosewood back and sides. I'm about an inch from selling the 000-15M and purchasing the 000-16 SM, but I have to do it when my wife's not looking!

      I got the 000-16sm and I feel sorry for my neighbors when I practice. But I really like it, the 000-15m had too little overtones, was too "dry" for my taste, whereas I enjoy the "moist" overtone laden sound of rosewood back and sides.

    Great video, I like the bigger bodied acoustics with spruce tops and Rosewood sides and backs but the Martin 000 -15M sounded best in my opinion. I don't know if this makes sense but the other two Martin guitars sounded great but the Lows and Highs stuck out more to my ears. The Martin 000-15 M to my ears took the high and lows and blended together and meshed together well in my opinion.

      This definitely makes sense. The 000-16 Streetmaster is an Adirondack and Rosewood guitar, which means you get a mid-scoop and lows and highs are more present. Also, the dreadnought has big low end and doesn´t sound that "sweet" on the treble strings. Therefore, the 000-15M Streetmaster is the more warm sound and most balanced guitar of those three. :)

    I have the 00015 and love it. It is my favorite guitar, however I plan on adding the 00016 to my collection. I think at this price point and wood combination it is hard to pass up.
    Thank you

    Love these guitars! I own the 000-15M Streetmaster for about 5 years now and still love it everyday for many many reasons. Only issue that kind of bothers me is the stains of finger moisture on the top, that have developed over time. Would be great if anyone would know a good way to remove those stains from the satin finish without damaging it?

      I have the 000-15m, Taylor make a polish for satin finishes that returns the guitar to its original look. It removes the shine if that’s what you want. I use it every once in a while it works very well.

    I played the ooo-15 and 16 back to back in my local shop, and bought the 16. I preferred the brighter sound the spruce top provides, and the wider neck works better for my chunky fingers.

    I tried both 000-15m and 000-16sm, then chose 16sm, I liked the rich overtone structure of rosewoood back and sides, 000-15m has a woody sound, strong basoc note and little overtones. That was my personal criteria for 000-16sm

    Good review, thank you. I have Martin OOO10e, which I love very much. But I'm thinking about another Martin) I'm choosing between OOO15 or OOO16. But after watching a lot of reviews, I think I'll order OOO16. It seems like the sound and tone of my OOO10 and OOO15 are almost the same. That's why I decided to buy a OOO16) Amazing sound, great looking. Love this OOO shape. Tonewoods are different and new for me. And that's a big plus)))

    When describing the 000-16 StreetMaster you didn't mention one of the most important/appealing factors; is that the Adirondack top is torrefied (baked), Martin's VTS (vintage tone system) makes the tone sound like it has aged decades. One of the main reasons people get them; it was a huge factor for me when i bought mine. Great review besides!!

      @@daveoconnor6306 Do i still like it? Yes, for sure; but i've wanted a Martin (specifically a Martin Dreadnought) for over 25 years since i learned to play as a teenager. I finally settled down and picked this 000-16 StreetMaster as my first Martin. I recently brought it to a well respected local guitar shop here in Seattle and one of the workers, upon hearing it when i got a 'set up', said "That's the best sounding guitar i've heard in a while." It definitely has that Adi/VTS sound. Crisp and bright and kinda dull too (maybe that's also cuz it's a 000 and lacks Dread boom).
      BUT, I recently got a 1981 Martin D35 and a 2022 (used for great price) D18 today!!! They're both great, but i can see the Reimagined D18 being my favorite guitar for life!!!! Much different then the StreetMaster, but glad i got the Adi/Sitka... Rosewood/Mahogany... VTS/non VTS spectrum thru the various guitars i have.. (And no, im far from rich, got financing one two of them, haha.)
      What do you think of your 16 StreetMaster???

  • @nellatrab

    Nice review....as you can obviously hear with headphones on the 000-15M in this video wins for best tone, balance and defined projection/volume! Martin has been building all mahogany 000's for 90 years and this why so many artists use them for recording and live playing. The short scaled 16 unfortunately has that scooped midrange, missing the delicate ringing of all mahogany and for me looks weird with it's blonde leopard spots, but the wider nut is nice. I think the idea of Martin making the 16's was purely devising something unique rather than going for tone, I have a 00016 Special Edition Limited built in the 90's with adi top, but with tortoise binding/mahogany B&S and no top stain. I personally prefer mahogany opposed to rosewood. The D is just way too unbalanced and bass heavy. BTW...I prefer the 000-15SM myself over all these, try one if you can!

    I still don't know what 000 to choose for let's say someone looking jusf for comfort, medium hands or small hands (my wife). We have a cheaper acustic guitar 25.5 scale and 1 11/16 nut. Also sometimes I play with a fender electric again long scale short nut. So I'm on the fence between shorter scale or short nut.

    • @guitarplaceaschaffenburg465
      @guitarplaceaschaffenburg465  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Since the 000-16 Streetmaster has spruce top it has a lighter attack and is more responsive. That´s true. The 15 series have mahogany hardwood top, which need a little more power in your right hand to get them going.

      @guitarplaceaschaffenburg465  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. I installed the Anthem System in many 000-style Martin guitars. It usually fits very good. It can happen that the radius of the contral panel is not 100% the same as the soundhole diameter. But that´s just a small visuall detail. It will work fine.

    For strumming i liked the 000-15 best. For finger picking the D-15M. I have to confess i am not a musician. Last year I bought my first guitar , a Taylor 224ce koa dlx for other musicians to use 😂

I also had a listen to the Martin GPC 13 zircote. And on some pieces of music it sounded better but I prefferred the Taylor on the whole, perhaps also because of the visuals. I don't really see the point of the 00-16...just seems like a pointless gimmick. Why treat it with the distressed 'streetmaster' treatment? Anyway, the 00015 is clearly the winner here, as you say, the most balanced and producing the cleaner sounds.

    • @guitarplaceaschaffenburg465
      @guitarplaceaschaffenburg465  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ...why not? Looks cool for many people. It´s same concept with washed jeans look. Also, it allows for "not so perfect" Adirondack spruce in this price category, which you don´t find anywhere on the market on US made guitars in this price range. I totally agree with the sound of the 000-15. It´s just killer for this price. :)
