This was very interesting. It seems like the tarikan tenaga is very similar to the internal and external principles in some of the Chinese martial arts. Breathing...Qi gong etc... I never knew silat had this component. Very enlightening and impressive. Thank you for sharing it!
+8Trigramz Fun fact: quite a number of traditional silat in Malaysia (and Indonesia too, I imagine) feature inner strength techniques. My Gayong teacher once told me, if properly done, one particular hand strike could rip bark off a tree.
Brother suffian , thank you again for this valuable footage and information , however it would amazing if you share the historical aspect of bruneian martial arts as their is scarce info in that regards a first hand perspective from a practitioner and teacher like yourself would be a valuable resource .
Interesting. I like the low center of gravity in the movement. Taking attacks seems to involve angling the hard bone to absorb the strikes instead of soft tissues. I am not certain about the safety of taking head strikes. Potential hazards would be Concussions over time, and if you have dental work, don't do it, replacing crowns and filling would be expensive! The Tiger at the end is more an apex predator with pure attack skills, and the technique is a mix of defense & offense. Aloha and salem from Hawaii! Wish we had Silat & Kali martial art schools here on the Big Island of Hawaii!
+Hawaii Volcano Squad this system has been trained and practiced for more than 3 generations. It is trained for longevity and not for self destruction :)
Maul565 I was opaquely referring to what the USA's National Football League has learned from several player union lawsuits about repetitive head trauma causing an organic brain syndrome, as illustrated on silver screen recently by actor Will Smith in the film "Concussion". His character discovers a degenerative brain disease now known as CTE in the autopsies of several deceased pro-football players. Thank you for your channel Maul. I enjoy and learn much from you, and wanted to share this tidbit of knowledge. I enjoy watching the cross culture exchange of knowledge as you learn from new and old masters from around the globe. I recently featured your channel on mine. Thank you! Aloha!
+nagayuddha probably of chinese descendant ( due to similarities to qi-gong in practice and application), also since their is no such thing as an exclusive 'Muslim" martial arts( learning of self defense is advocated within the faith system ) but any art utilized by any muslim community across south east is purely a by product of the people and not the religion . Eg: in the middle east they got some forms of wrestling and stick fighting and fencing that existed before the spread of islam.
sadisss.....silatnya....,,,, """keras banget latihannya.......

+Maul565 What's the inner mythos of system origin? Muslim? Chinese?
