@@matthewalvarez48 choose a cut of pork with a fat cap of about 1 centimetre thick, score the skin in a checker pattern through the fat cap but not so deep as to cut into the flesh. Here in South Australia we have spiced vinegar available in most stores, not sure about other states but any good quality vinegar works. Drizzle some vinegar over the skin and massage it in and sprinkle liberally with salt of your choice and massage it in to all the scored skin and fat cap. Roast in the oven on a medium to high temperature until done and do not baste the skin... The crackling should be crispy but not tough, kinda like the texture of prawn crackers. Hope this helps.

Looks nice, but after eating these from different Vietnamese bakeries in Sydney and the south coast, it doesn’t have as many ingredients and is too expensive. Our local sells them with: - Crusty bread roll - Pork or chicken - lettuce - carrot - cucumber - marinated onions - tomato - spring onions - mayo - pate - home made garlic soy sauce And of course hold the evil weed (coriander) All for $6.50. But all are fresh, tasty and you feel healthier after eating them, especially with a $2 bottle of water. Small bakeries selling healthy meals for $8.50 puts Maccas to shame!
How about trying the lemon grass beef Banh Mi? As they are delicious. Well the ones ive had here in WA especially my Wife's family restaurant. The restaurant is called Banh Mi
I am one of those who hates Coriander aka Cilantro leaves, though I love the dry spice. The greens smell "buggy''to me.Bit of trivia:birds can't taste the heat of chilis, they gobble wild ones down and spread the seeds. The heat defends against mammals like rodents or us,who eat seeds not just the pulp.
… the sauce is likely to be Maggi Seasoning (one of the ingredients is msg).. not oyster sauce… but a Banh mi without it, isn’t authentic… and if you do get a banh mi without it.. you’ll definitely taste the difference. Luv a good banh mi!
Mmmm those bit's of fat you gave to the magpie our my favourite bit's not good for the old heart but as you said pork crackling is a gift from the God's, great as always grego 🍻🙏🙏🙏
$7.5 for a pork roll is higher than I'd like to pay but anything $10 or over is INSANE for a bread roll come on, you can get a pizza or two burgers for that I dont care how good the pork roll is its not worth that much.
They probably use a pork belly which is incredibly fatty. Vietnamese people will eat the fat with no problem so I guess that’s why they keep it in and not cut it.
The only time I ever tried coriander was a fresh bunch of hydroponically grown and it tasted like chemicals or something... Is it supposed to taste like that?
Aww Greg! You should have let me know before you went, I live around the corner. You must try their Vietnamese iced coffee. It's the best in Brisbane! Cafe O-Mai is honestly my favourite place in Brisbane!
Hoisin sauce is a great topping. Here in Florida the banh mi has the famous pork pate part of the layers. Love it. Every cafe their signature sandwich. Thank for the review. Enjoyed first visit and all the comments. 🌹😎🌹

$11.50s a bit steep...I pay $7.50 for the same thing here in my area of Sydney. The crunch of the crackle did sound very "tender" though. 🤤
I'm pretty sure Greg is just fucking with me now.
@@samshepherd26 Haha...this comment cracked me up !👍
Yeah I paid 6.50 for the one I recently reviewed

Australian Vietnamese food is amazing. Glad to see small businesses thriving 👍
Just around the corner from there in Yeronga opposite Yeronga State School on Park Rd, there's another Vietnamese cafe. Give that one a go, Greggo.

Yo Greg! Looks like a great Bahn mi! Yummo!
Nice one Greg! How easily are you finding places to review in Brisbane compared to the GC?
Come up to Darwin Grego and try the Aussie/Vietnamese roll. It's called the Pharrkme roll.
Hey Grego did you end up finding more crackling when eating the rest of the roll?
g'day greggo. it looked like you were really enjoying that one! quick question though. I noticed your script fell out at around 3:04. whoops!
may have been the menu? hehe!
Looked fresh and tasty
It was!
Now that looks fantastic
$11 for a banh mi?? banh mi should be $6-$7
Must be that time of the year I just Reviewed a Bánh mì and dam it was amazing 👏 😉
birds don't feel the heat from chillies! they eat ghost peppers for fun and spread the seeds!
That's why birds have such runny poo. In my uneducated opinion.
@@edstraker8451 well their pee is part of their poo and their pee is part of their poo so yes!
vise versa
Lucky capsacanoids in chilli don't effect birds like they do to us.
Need to try the bakery in zillmere they make great Bahn mi
What's the best bahn mi in Brisbane?
