Me too, Spoony was great in his heyday, even now I come back to his videos and rewatch them almost every year. I think even today and after all these years, he could make a comeback with this kind of content, but his mental state is not easily overcome. It's a shame.

If I had a nickel for every time Spoony played an FMV game where a guy is suspended by a ceiling-mounted harness I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. Among the suspects, Claire seems like the correct choice narratively. Magnotta is too obvious from a narrative standpoint and Falconetti is too obvious from a casting standpoint because if this were a movie, and I mean a movie movie and not an interactive one, Falconetti would indeed be the Ripper because David Patrick Kelly always plays villains. I prefer subverting expectations like the game did by having Falconetti helping Quinlan. Catherine on the other hand is a vegetable for most of the game (yet still a way better journalist than Quinlan) and why would the Ripper attack himself other than to throw off suspicion that doesn't exist? Claire, on the other hand, couldn't be more of a Ripper if she was Professer Emeritus of Ripping at Harvard and danced naked on the table singing "Ripping Days Are Here Again". She has a fixation on Victorian London, she has these weird, creepy secret experiments and she switched roles with the Ripper's first victim years and years ago when she was in the Web Runners when they played that disastrous session of the Jack The Ripper role playing game. It's never specified which role she switched to, but I believe that it's the role of the Ripper which you could easily conclude she orchestrated as a test run for her new serial killer persona, and Claire is shown to be smart enough to do it and to also create what she would have needed to become a cyber-killer. Sure, Magnotta's shady as hell but at least he's honest about it and Falconetti is almost too crazy to be a sociopath if that makes any sense. Among the suspects we're given, Claire definitely makes the most sense once you review the evidence. Granted, Ripper isn't a particularly good narrative, but it's the narrative we have to work with.

Wow! That was the most disappointing end to a game, since Ghostbusters for the NES (and dozens of other consoles). Like they couldn't even film alternate endings, with the other actors? Had they all gone home, then they decided on alternate endings! They were just lucky Scott Cohen was picking up his paycheck thay day ;) I love the clue ending but you need to watch his 'Phantasmagoria 2' playthrough, to get the great stuff. I'm not saying Spooney wasn't on his game because he was but Ripper has such a great cast (for a videogame) that it's tough not to enjoy it. It's similar to when MST3K has a movie, with a big name, they tend on concentrating their best jokes on him, or her. See Joe Estevez, Joe Don Baker or John Carradine Riffed films, for more examples. But I would take Curtis Craig, over Jake Quinlan anyday. It's like playing as Lester the unlikely, (I take that back but you get what I mean. An unknown Nerd) and when the first puzzle, is finding your wallet, that your pet rat Blob hid somewhere, you know your in for an odd game!! Imho Phantasmagoria 2 is my favorite longplay! It's a Riffer's paradise! Or maybe Spoony makes it look easy. Either way, check it out, especially if you liked Ripper. Cheers from Canada
Amazing job. Could you post here the configuration (DOSbOx conf? i assume) which you use to have such AMAZING quality of videos (i mean in game i dont want to capture in video). Or did you use something different instead of Dosbox? I am trying all day to achieve such a quality in game.
That's not true but isn't obvious from the clips spliced here - there are four potential variations to the game, but only one accusation is correct per playthrough (Claire is the killer in this playthrough), but I he guess got all the FMVs of all the other variations. In the Falconetti & Magnotta variations you won't see Haman at all and the game focuses more on the fake pictures that one or the other give you to frame the other (Magnotta still does that in this variation, but he does it much earlier when he is guilty). If it is Catherine you'll see Haman as directly involved (attacked you with a knife with his prints found on it) rather than just a bystander like here.
According to the strategy guide, Catherine's mom died due to a random programming glitch. Meaning her revenge was completely pointless.

Roleplay doesn’t always make sense and it depends on you die and how dramatic you make it
2e D&D players with no rule fudging, including character creations (roll one trait at a time in order, no assigning, no dropping 1 bad roll)
