I am 48 years old. I have been listening to them daily since 1986, when I was in school, and never got bored with their music. Hope to see them live again next year.
Seen Obituary alongside Exodus and Power Trip around 2017 in a smaller venue. One memorable show. I wasn't too familiar with most of Obituary's material at the time. They closed the show and killed it! All the bands were killer.
CaptainWhirlwind just saw them the other night literally one of the best shows I've ever been to I'm 30 years old and I've probably been to a hundred plus concerts
tbf some of their tone choices during the gig were questionable 25 mins to 30 for example notice how much cleaner and better it gets when he shifts his tone
I'm in my mid 40s and I don't know if Obituary gets better with time or what but I have underrated them most of my life. I think it is time to give them their due as one of metals best.
I had the immense pleasure of seeing this band live, back in 1992 touring with Cannibal Corpse, Malevolent Creation and Agnostic Front. The tour was called Complete Control. I was 16 years old, and living in my native country, Puerto Rico at the time. I had just obtained my driver’s license and since I was a true rebel and unsuspecting idiot at the time, I dropped out of school and started working for my father, who was a construction contractor and he told me that I had to work and help pay the bills if I didn’t want to go to school cuz he wasn’t raising no free loader. Sooo, I got my driver’s license and bought my first clunker. A 1973 Dodge Colt for 250 bucks that left me stranded all the time lol. Long story short; I drove an hour and a half to the concert with 4 other knuckle heads who bailed on me after we got to the concert because the car overheated and I hit a curb and blew a tire with no spare so we had to steal a wheel off a car and almost got caught. On the highway, the car overheated again and the whole exhaust system fell off after dragging it all over the street. Then, after finally making it to the venue, I got jumped and my money for the ticket was stolen from me. Luckily, some dude came out of nowhere, and he had a flask full of whiskey and two extra tickets, so of all people, he asked me specifically to hand him his flask, once on the other side, and he would hand me two tickets. That was like a miracle to me, lol. So I got to see these bands live, except Malevolent Creation because they didn’t make it. Fuckin skin heads almost fucked it all up but I just got close to the stage and enjoyed the show with a black eye and all. Fuck it! Best experience of my fuckin life! All three band’s performances were top notch. No James Murphy, but Allen West killed it. I was so impressed by Cannibal Corpse with Chris Barnes playing mostly tracks from Eaten Back To Life. Tampa’s Death Metal scene was so killer at the time. I wish Malevolent Creation had made it, but I was utterly satisfied by these bands playing for 500 headbangers like if the whole stadium was full. So appreciate these under appreciated professional musicians! Fuck yeah! www.decibelmagazine.com/2019/01/31/that-tour-was-awesome-complete-control-1992/
Just to see few survivors band from Tampa in the 80’s and 90’s, aside their history of almost 35 years, put them in this ridiculous stage is an insult, it’s ridiculous. They deserved the main stage.
I totally agree, but sometimes if you have a chance to watch a true metal act in a small stage it might be a blessing, because most of the public appreciates the band and just don't stand there holding phones....
Pretty sure audio is 100% remastered. edit : wow, now that I've heard Tardy's microphone problem at the beginning I realize that it's not. Unbelievable sound quality!
Fui no show deles e foi do caralho. Ai terminou o show, me virei pra ir embora e quem tava lá assistindo (com a galera mesmo)? O Krisiun (Moyses e Max), cumprimentei eles, conversei rapidinho e fui embora. Muito gente boas eles.
On last two shows in Warsaw I stood next to barriers and when they came I just showed them CD covers and waved with a pen and they came straight to sign my stuff. Coolest guys in the world and fuckin awesome band

Pure Death Metal. And that voice!
Slowly we all will rot after we die. Is what it is..
You know what it’s not pure death metal. There’s a strong sense of thrash and groove in there too - which is what makes it unique and great
Best band!!

I’ll admit that I probably wouldn’t have ever grown to love these guys unless I had seen them live. They are insanely fun live.
Cheers to the sound engineer. Terry's bass sounds awesome in the mix.
Too much bass at the beginning and lead guitar is not loud enough .

One thing I always loved about Obituary is how thick and heavy their sound is.
I’m glad they take a break in between every song it means they give every single song everything that have.

I watched them live in Oslo same day as Slayer, Lamb of god and Anthrax 1.5 year ago.
Best Obituary lineup. Ken and Trevor are badass together and Terry is the most badass bassist I know.

Should be an unwritten rule at gigs that anyone who gets their phone out is automatically launched headfirst into the pit.
Posers hold up phones fucking can't stand cellphones!!! Did you see the video of Rob Halford kicking one out of a posers hand so cool.
I don’t get why it matters if someone wants to ruin their own experience by seeing it through a tiny mobile, they do their thing, leave em to it
I’m waiting to hear Obituary cover a Death song from Scream Bloody Gore. I’m really surprised it never happened🌷Kant
they were contemporaries, it would never happen. It would be like Judas Priest covering Black Sabbath. No chance.

'Stratocasters can't do metal'...pfft....All hail the mighty Obituary \m/ \m/
I always loved how Obituary gets killer tone by just using a strat that's plugged straight into a marshall head, nothing more.
It has to be a black one though..
A Strat and a good humbucker is a killer combination. Trevor is certainly unique in his genre. These guys sound better now than they ever have, IMO
The H-S-S model is perfectly good for metal. An all single pickups probably wouldnt sound so badass
Lots of metal guitars are superstrats
