I ain't a mentor myself and I don't think I ever will (but you know how they say - never say never!) but I was on the other side of the barricade... being a sprout queueing into Extreme Shiva without watching any guide xD
I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE THAT HARD U NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT QUESTS FOR EXTREME TRIALS ARE LITERALLY ENCOURIGING YOU TO DO IT IN DUTY FINDER!

But seriously, a lot of people don't even know what a Party Finder is. Many can't even use it on free trial! So pleaaase, Mentors, do not be upset on us ;-; we love you!

The marauder with a bad connection was a nice touch
Gandalf's "I have no memory of this place" always hits me hard for most of the Omega raids, especially O2 and O7.

I remember that one time as a sprout testing my luck queueing Ifrit extreme full of sprout and 2 mentors we wiped million times but in the end cleared it with this OP whm mentor solo-ed the 3% ifrit.

I'd like to confess, when I was a newbie, I queued for Nidhogg EX in DF and luckily(?) went in, I died like an idiot but no one said a thing. It was in JP server tho. I think if it was EU or NA I would hear the song of oblivion. Still cringe every time when I recall it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe on the JP servers they are more OK with roulettes for EX Trials than on the other datacentres. And if no one complained then there's no real reason to be concerned.
On JP datacentres you do PF-groups for practice and duty finder for clearruns
@@Kambra The reason people usually say not to queue for them is because it's generally a super long wait. Party Finder is just much, much faster for that sort of thing.

Got Grand Cosmos yesterday for the first time since pre-endwalker on sage. (It was levelling and not mentor though.) I'm still not good at sage and all three of the other party members were new to the dungeon. So we had 3 people who didn't know the dungeon at all and a sage who doesn't know what they are doing and only remembers mechanics after seeing them again. There was so much death, a dc, more death and a clear. Was so torn between "save me" and "challenge accepted"

Ahhhh this accurate, so back in shadowbringers I was a mentor but now with Endwalker the game told me to update it or I will lose it well good riddance I want to lose it, being mentor just attract toxic behavior to me, like I only wanted to help and yet ppl think I was acting like any other mentor they either ignore me or send insult my way 🤦🤦 to my experience it comes to the point mentors are not toxic it the people around u when they see the crown next to ur name cuz from all the memes they saw smh 🤦

Well, I know my stuffs from ARR to EW contents and I’m a mentor and a Ultima Legend too.
You know, ppl likes to poke fun with us if we make just one little mistake.
They forget that everyone is an human capable to do mistakes. Even “God” Yoshi P makes mistakes.
I don’t blame them for their ignorance. They are right, somehow. Sadly there is not an icon to identify a bad player.
However what really makes you a mentor is your attitude towards the game and its players.
You don’t need a crown. This is just an achievement you got and you may or may not want to display to others.
Personally I never had bad experiences with my crown shown on.
Although I am a Tank Main, I do mostly of my dailies as SCH and I’m the kind of healer that you could hate.
If your hps are more than half, don’t expect me to use any healings gcds.
If you step into an avoidable AoE don’t expect me to heal you if I don’t have any resources available.
I don’t give any advices beforehand.
You can have questions and you can ask, I will be always willing to answer and explain but if you mess something up I’m not going to fix your mistake for you.
That’s my way to be a Mentor, the way my mentors taught to me.
I’m not the kind of “Mentor” that people expects, rather the opposite one.
You can be a Mentor as well in your own way, with or without a crown that doesn’t tell anything about you but your actions do.
@@zeerodown1887 I’m actually thankful there isn't an icon to identify “bad” players, it would be cruel to be forever branded as a failure just because of a mishap or two.
I did my first duty dungeon yesterday (Halatali) and while everything was smooth sailing at the start my controller decided to die halfway through. By the time I got it fixed my party was so far ahead of me I got flustered, missed the fireplace portal, ran straight into a dead end and got wiped. I was the healer (SCH) by the way.
It was so embarrassing and I fully expected my party to tear me apart but they were surprisingly forgiving about the whole ordeal, so I suppose it was a positive first experience overall. But you better believe I redid the dungeon later on that day just to wash away the sin.
Not a mentor, but I had a dungeon with three folks doing their first time. Good times. Knew all the mechanics except the last boss where I couldn't recall a single thing about it.

Everytime I play with a mentor they seemed more like sprouts.
itz cuz they spam a single trial on healer mashing their aoe regen/heal macro and farm comms and have 0 experience with the rest of the game and are too stubborn to admit they dont and pretend them failing mechanic for the 5000000th time is somehow not their fault, or server tick, lag, etc.

The extremes are easily doable. Especially with echo.
They were added to the duty finder for a reason.
Thats how I did it tho with most of ARR Ex'es, but honestly that wasnt the best experience in this game xd
Is it really so bad to not remember everything as a mentor? If anything, mentoring could be done proper through simply noticing mechanics faster than the rest and pointing them out if at first they are not remembered.. a wipe or two is perfectly acceptable!
yeah it is practically impossible to remember everything, so ofc there are alot of "uhh, i have no idea about this fight, best of luck"
