Right now I'm using the Friedman BE Deluxe two channel. Probably one of the better gig pedals. I can set one channel for lower, or classic gain stuff, and the other strictly for metal and hard rock. Expensive...yes. Worth every penny...yes. It just sounds so good for the size.
I really love my Vertex Dynamic Distortion. It’s a bit scooped on its own (which is perfect in certain scenarios!) however how it stacks with other pedals, and the character it imparts there, is where it shines. Running into a Klone for smoothness or a low gain Bluesbreaker are the two ways I use it. Sounds absolutely massive, feels good under the fingers, sustains for days, and cleans up amazingly with the volume knob. The blend of fuzz and traditional distortion is a plus.

I've been using my Dual Rectifier tone for the past several years until a few months ago when I picked up a Revv G3 Distortion pedal and holy cow! This thing is fantastic. I can get a distortion that is crunchy in the mids like a Marshall but still has that gritty and scooped tone I can get out of a Boogie amp. Love it.
Best one I've gotten is a clone of the Earthquaker Devices "Life Pedal." It's basically a vintage rat module with a boost and octave up knop and 3 clipping options. Even though it's a clone it sounds amazing. The actual models are in the $500+ range due to limited production.
Still can't do without my Orange Bax Bangeetar. Not a distortion pedal and I think it's been discontinued but man it can dial in any dirt sound you can imagine.

Boss Metal Zone Waza. It is great for heavier stuff. Low gain is more usable than you'd think. And the Waza gives you 2 modes. The amount of hate the original MT2 gets is ridiculous. You can make it sound like crap easily, because of the powerful EQ. Set it right, and it is good. However the Waza version is in a different league. Amazing.

I use a MXR Distortion + at 1 o'clock for both positions as a boost into either a Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe v2 or REVV G3 set differently. I can switch the MRX off to change tone then use the MXR by itself for a nice sound. My amp is a 81 Rivera era Fender Deluxe Reverb set super clean, reverb around 3-3.5 and if I use the Tremelo I adjust as I go. I'm looking into AMT pedals. Any Suggestions? Looking for high gain tight sound. My Spark 40 on factory settings (no tablet 😥) for hi gain 1PM delay 10AM and reverb 9:30 sounds awesome. Maybe I should sell the pedals and get a hi gain head!?! I dunno.

For the last 9 or so years my main has been the Fulltone GT500. It’s got a Marshall sound without being to muddy. Also works well with single coils.
