How a Tunnel Kiln works, Medalta

  • Right around the time of World War 2, Medalta upgraded their ceramic firing process, moving from their iconic beehive kilns to a more streamlined approach - the tunnel kiln.
    These kilns reduced the amount of labour that was needed to load & unload ware. Pottery was placed on a cart, which ran on railroad tracks. These tracks slowly moved through the kiln, getting fired in the process.

    My works too. Used woodprix handbooks and build it with no problems.
