Vanessa, thanks for doing such an amazing job grooming Misty and raising awareness of Addison in dogs. Sorry about your eardrums! :). She only ‘yips’ like that when she’s excited for a truck ride to the dog park. She doesn’t do it when we’re grooming her. So, she must have been excited to be groomed by you!
For anyone who has a dog that exhibits the signs of Addison disease that Vanessa mentioned in the video for an unusual amount of time please take your dog to your veterinarian ASAP. Addison crisis comes on quick and if not caught in time can be fatal. If your dog is diagnosed with it, be sure to keep your dogs food stable and have his/her blood tested yearly to allow for adjustments to the medication. Thanks to our vet, Dr. Judge for catching this early and allowing us to love our Magical Misty for many more years.

Got little emotional when hearing about how she was diagnosed when 15 months old and her being six years old now means her owners just utterly adore and love her with all their best efforts.
You ever have a Samoyed?
First I'm obligated to tell you why not to get one: They shed an incredible amount, and unless you have had one, it's more shedding than you imagine. This alone makes them very hard to own.
But they are one of the nicest, most lovable dogs you can imagine, but they shed.
I had a Samoyed that had glaucoma, that's tremendously expensive to deal with, and it leads to blindness. I used to do dog fostering, and I loved dogs, but when my two died, I was done. I will never have a dog again.
You shouldn't say not to get one..a dog owner needs to do their own homework and decide what works for them. I own a samoyed and will continue to have one FOREVER they amazing lovable sweetest dogs ever ❤ I own 2 dachshunds and they've both had surgery which has cost me thousands..every dog may have problems..my family has had samoyeds for decades and none of them gave had the issue you speak of.

Samoyeds are emotional, empathetic dogs. When I came home from school, ours used to sense when I was depressed and stayed by my side until I felt better. He stuck by me, whining softly, and I'd put my face in his fur and cry. He would not leave until I felt better. How I miss our beautiful Shamash, all these year later.
She was stunning when she walked in. She was very tolerant and she loved you grooming her face and muzzle. So glad she was diagnosed so early. I can’t imagine this stunning beauty losing her glorious coat! Fantastic video!

Its probably groomed more frequently.
@@Bionickpunkwell she stated the dogs owners groom themselves and cut her fur with the proper cutting technique so I strongly believe that is what equal to the beautiful cloud fur ball having very little shedding✂️🐶🐾🌞🌞🌞

I can never see a Samoyed without thinking of the first one I ever knew existed: Happy. We lived in a remote village in Alaska and Happy belonged to a beautiful family whose dad was my dad's boss. Happy was completely in love with his 4 human boys and was so good with all us neighbor kids. But Happy was quite old and eventually had to be euthanized. I was 13. My best friend and I organized a memorial service for Happy to help the boys deal with his loss. Word got out ...and several of the grown ups in our tiny community attended, too. I'm 58 ...and seeing this beauty of a dog ...I can still see ...and hear....Happy. 🤗
Vanessa, thank you for highlighting Misty's "Addison's Disease," and information regarding the symptoms and treatment of this uncommon but awful disease. We nearly lost our beautiful and much-loved cattle-dog-mix to Addison's, but our vets were very thorough and tested for Addison's. With proper treatment, we've enjoyed another three years with our girl, and still counting. Your channel is a great source of information, as well as entertainment. Misty is a stunning girl, thank you for featuring her!

And just for the info, Addison disease occurs in humans too tought been rare, a friend of mine almost died from it.

My pupper has Addison's disease, too! Luckily, our vet diagnosed it early based on blood tests and we just avoided Addisonian crisis. She eats two meds daily and is living her life to the fullest. ❤
That's awesome! Is it hard to get her to eat her meds? Some dogs can be tricky about it.
Good owners and vets= happy doggo lives. For all the heartbreaking stories linked to animals, its always a breath of fresh air to hear a sweet wholesome one. Love it!
@@rileylittleraven you bet! She has become very good at wiggling the pills out or hiding them between her teeth and lips, then spitting them out when we aren't watching. We need some creativity and cunning and very good treats. Luckily the pills are very small and can be divided into even smaller pieces.
We wrap Misty’s meds in rotisserie chicken and 90% of the time is “one and done”…. swallowed in the blink of an eye.
@@Jay905Canada Haha, that's perfect. 👌🏻 My dog is unfortunately very, very picky! If she senses there's something suspicious about that treat, she won't eat it. And what was her favourite treat yesterday, might get a "meh" today. But it's worth all the trouble and hassle to keep her feeling and doing well!

Misty's barks and whines were quite loud, but it looked like she was very good for her groom overall. I hope your ears have recovered. 😉 Kudos to her owners for taking such amazing care of her coat. ❤ She truly is like a fluffy cloud or cotton ball. Adorable!!
Totally!! She came in white which is more than I could ever say with my Bichons.
My sister's beagle was sick and near death, so she took it to the emergency vet, they did a battery of tests and basically told her he was on his way out, nothing they could do.
Knowing that a bunch of his symptoms matched the profile for Addison's, she requested the vet test him for it and was told "he doesn't have Addison's, it's very rare" and refused to test him.
My sister insisted the test be done...and guess what? It was Addison's disease.
He's still alive and much better now on medicine, but at least in my neck of the woods vets won't even give you the time of day if you suggest something other than what they believe is wrong with your furry pal. She almost lost her loved companion over it.
That was a real close call! I’m glad her beagle is doing better!
@@rokamayono8590 It really was. It was terrible seeing both the dog and her suffer watching him decline to that point. Just goes to show that no one can advocate for your pet better than yourself in the face of an obstinate veterinarian!

I wish I could say the same, I still have a feeling my mom's cat was put down prematurely, and I'm most certainly sure with different doctors he would be alive right now.

@@cacornhusker2940 Chow chows shave a difference ear, muzzle and eye shape and usually have the coloured tongue. And they’re a totally different build under the fur. They can occasionally come in biscuit colour I think though
Yeah, Samoyeds are pretty much just slightly less neurotic huskies.
@@SobrietyandSolace yeah, a friend had a chow chow with blue coloring in his tongue. good to know samoyed fur doesn't hold lots of dander. i've only seen full bred chows a handful of times in my life....not real popular in NE and too hot in CA.
My dog Aja has Addison’s disease as well. She was 2 years old when we found out. Now, she is on medicine and is a healthy girl. She’s 8 years old now! ❤
My 12 year old service dog was diagnosed with Addisons at 11-mostly likely secondary to immune mediated thrombocytopenia. He's been amazing on his (very expensive) monthly shots. 😖
I'm a helicopter mom and demanded extra testing and the disease was discovered only because I advocated for my boy. Grateful for my gumption and his continued health. ❤

Thankfully my Sammy, Ghost, normally stays quiet during bath time. Sadly however, he is an escape artist, so I whenever I look away, he’s managed to Houdini his way out of the bathroom.

Samoyeds are famous for their "Sammy Smile." It's even more awesome because not only does the shape of their mouths look like they're constantly smiling, but it also prevents them from drooling, a huge plus in my book, lol. Love them so much.

Samoyeds are apparently prone to Addison's; my aunt and uncle's late Samoyed had it as well. Glad Misty's owners are taking good care of her!
idk why but the shaving out the paw pads is always my fav part 😭the amount of fluff that comes out of seemingly nowhere sometimes is astronomical and so satisfying to watch every time!!

I had a male Samoyed when I was a young adult. He lived to be 14 years old, and I still think of him every single day. I'm 66 now...
My favorite part of these videos is seeing all the cute toe beans.
Hearing damage is a gradual progression, you may want to think about keeping earplugs in your pocket for when you do need them. It's not fun getting only parts of conversations and I find I'm not as tired at the end of the day with less noise. :- ). Love your channel, and what you do for pets.

I watch MilkyBokiTan and they have a lovely Samoyed called Milky; he's such a good boy when it comes to bathing. Boki is Gwang Bok, a Norwegian Forest Cat who also takes to bathing pretty well, then there's Tan, a ginger cat who isn't that keen on bathing, but endures it. Every time I watch them getting bathed I keep thinking to myself, I wonder how they'd react to being groomed by Vanessa. I absolutely love those fluffy polar bear cloud doggos so much 🥰

I truly appreciate how you handle their legs. I have seen other groomers hold and bend them in unnatural ways and then complain when they get bit or snapped at. Makes me furious!

Absolutely gorgeous!I had a Samoyed when I was a young girl. She was quite the spirited dog. I was devastated when she was stolen from our front yard. Her name was Satchmo. I truly loved her. It's been almost 60 years and I still remember her. Thanks so much for the sweet memories of my lovely Satchmo. ❤😊

look up Nenets people. This is where dog bred from...Russia near Artic. Deserve credit as dog so fun to have...sits in lap...loves walks. Introduced me to sun umbrella when older as heat sensitive. Can be driven, needs holding enthusiasm back as senior from overdoing it. Mine lived 14 yrs old being adopted at 4 yrs old.
(can be aggressive toward other dogs needs patience like spitz. ..my 2 dogs had to have identical toys to stop jealous fighting)
