Jabba’s Palace Star Wars Vintage Collection Unboxing and Review & Set up with Kenner Action Figures

  • First off -I do not open the figures. Just getting that out of the way for those that expect a complete and total unboxing of this set. heheh
-But I do show them in-depth and up close. So you still get a great view of the two Vintage Collection figures that come with this set....
I unbox the Jabba’s Palace playset and put it together then I take out a whole mess of my Vintage Kenner action figures from the 1980’s along with Jabba himself and start playing around with this thing. I wanted to see how it looked alongside the original Kenner figures and playsets and if it would fit right in on the display shelf or not.
So sit back, get some popcorn and a soda and let’s watch Jabba’s Palace come to life!

Fun, I just recently got some replacent hookah for my 83 Jabba and have him displayed again. It was the only original toy set I remember getting, I was still a bit too young when all that was still new. Only 3 when RotJ hit, so I loved Star Wars but never had a lot of the original toys.

Pretty amazing you still have so many of these figures from your childhood. I did have four of mine still, up until a point. You really beat the odds with still having so many.
In the 90's, I ended up buying most all the vintage figures, but now they're practically all gone. Really cool idea with using all the original figures with this playset. They compliment each other quite a bit.
*Wow! It keeps going and going with you mentioning you 'had this one' since you were a kid.

It almost didn’t happen. Like many people, as a kid that grew into his early teens, I put all my toys away in a big box in the closet. At one point we had a garage sale and I put price tags on all the toys, but then never went through with the sale.
When I was in my late teens -like 18 or 19 my Dad got me an AT-AT that he found on clearance at a Kay Bee toy store as a gag gift for my birthday. He had a real gift that year also, as this was just a joke cause it was something I always asked for as a kid. But to this day, I can’t remember what the real gift was. heheh
-but anyways -that gag gift got me back in that box stowed away in the closet and I’ve been collecting toys ever since. I remember pulling a “50 cents” sticker off Jabba. Man, I’m so glad I didn’t do that garage sale now. heheh

Jabba in this video is the original Kenner Jabba the Hutt playset from 1983.
-if you want one, you’ll have to go on eBay or hunt local thrift stores and garage sales.

With seeing Max Rebo and the Sy Snootles band (one of the last few vintage figures I sold), I really hope Hasbro makes a new set.
The vintage Sy is hands down better than the CGI figure version. The last ones didn't have the two microphone stands, and Max was still missing the huge speaker section of their organ. Plus, the original Droopy looks more movie accurate; it doesn't have all that paint wash grime on it.

I thought so. I can definitely see the Han being a repack, but the Ree Yees has a different head than that Black Series one. The head on the Black Series was way too small. That’s why I never bought it. It was disproportionate to the body. Way small. Looks so funny. I really think they fixed that and think this one has a larger head.

What's the deal with the trope of having geek or nerd (sometimes dork) in so many of the newer figure reviewers usernames? I mean, it's astronomical. I practically find new channels everyday with those words in them. It's kind of a dumb and rhetorical question; but what's the allure with using one of those cliché words that us pop culture fanatics are called? Maybe it has something to do with the TH-cam algorithm, and you have a better chance of getting noticed?
And I'm not meaning any of that in a rude or condescending way..just something that's interesting.

    • @Superawesomegeekshow
      @Superawesomegeekshow  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mark Curtis
I don’t know about the YT algorithm. My Vintage Geek name came from my friends and it stuck.
I’ve always been a geek and I’ve been collecting vintage and retro toys from our childhood seemingly forever. My friends always said I was too old for this stuff and especially when I got into podcasting and TH-cam, they said I was just as vintage as the toys and games I collect. So they started calling me the Vintage Geek cause I’m old and a geek. They even made me a t-shirt back around 2008 or so that said Vintage Geek on it in yellow.
So when I started doing more YT videos the past year or so, I just went with the Vintage Geek’s Toy Room to spotlight the toys.
The Super Awesome Geek Show title for the podcast and YT channel. That’s really was a joke. A play on how everything has outrageous titles. Its also kind of a throw back to the long titles of the old Japanese shows. Originally it was going to the The Super Awesome Number One Geek Show, but when we went for a website, we didn’t know how people would try to put in Number One. Would they try No.1, Number 1, Number One -whatever? So we eventually just dropped the number one part and went with The Super Awesome Geek Show and left it as that.
and it also accidentally became a comic/toy geek show. When my friend came to me with the idea of doing a geek show, I ran with it and it became what it is today. He later told me that he meant tech geek, like talking about gadgets and technology, not toys and comics. heheh
