I mean at first I'm like why are they bringing up super heroes Goku in this..... Then I realize they are bringing one of the more busted superman which dosent matter anymore since they are all cannon to the main superman now.
They missed where flash hit supes with a infinity mass punch one of both their best moves and this a hair below FTL punch nearly killed supes and broke flash arm. It brings into question why their best attack is at a hair below FTL and they are always seen by human eyes and given time trravel dc was originally what happens at FTL makes sense why the infinite mass punch is 1 hair below but even if we let that go it still means they can't use it unless moving below FTL showing combat is below FTL but mainly it shows a punch that's less than light speed can nearly kill supes and if a punch below light speed can nearly kill supes all goku punches are septillions times the speed of light sadly death battle includes plot armor and only uses the one time they did this type of battle I don't care what supes did one time with plot armor I care about how he is most the time. Sadly finding out flash nearly killed him with a single hair below light speed punch makes supes mega lose now he loses at speed strength and durability abilities hell goku outclassed supes in ever way other than that goku has reverse plot armor and must lose and supes is plot armor so must win but plot armor doesn't apply outside their own story , I mean if a hair slower than FTL weak punch can nearly kill supes then fuck fighting goku he needs to worry about Hercule pr videl or yamucha all who have survived attacks far stronger than a punch that a hair below light speed lol I mean Hercule survived a attack millions times stronger than what nearly killed supes lmao

If you're someone who doesn't care about DBZ, all you'd most likely know is super saiyan 1. Presenting both sides at their best is the most fair way to handle it. For comparisons of this scale, concrete and reliable evidence will always trump conjecture.
I'm sorry your character lost, but if you go by the objective, definitive facts, Goku looses.
Love the story arc of this series. Starts with Goku going “Oh a new strong guy who’s the strongest i’ve ever seen i wanna fight him” then superman is just annoyed by him and kills him. Then in the second one Superman brings everyone back and fixes things which also brings back Goku who got stronger and they fight again. In the third one Superman understands that they can just wish everyone back after they fight so he can finally let lose and go all out with someone and it’s really just him helping Goku train. Best Buddies
Yeah it makes way too much sense there's somehow managed to make it fit into both of their characters.
For Superman this would just be a fun way to let loose every now and then for Goku it would be like the ultimate training partner, It fits way too well almost as if they were writen for this from the beginning

Goku actually only wins a fight via a new transformation once in all of dragonball. SSJ2, SSJ3, SSJ God and blue all happen without him using them to win and he loses his fight with Jiren.

The research is Goku is a mostly consistent fighter following a plot of escalating power levels. meanwhile superman is written by a different writer every other year all with varying understandings or desires for his powerlevel.
superman is as strong as the plot needs him to be. Goku will surive until he's strong enough to beat his opponent.

Super Boy Prime, who has all the powers of golden age super man and went evil, has a move that is literally called the "Retcon Punch". He didn't just brake reality, he broke the canon of his story.
Super Boy Prime's feats are so ridiculous they're actually hilarious. He traumatized the Green Lantern Corps so hard their non-sentient rings learned fear. He punches his way out the Phantom Zone and the shockwave singles out Beast Boy to baby shake his entire history. One guy with the ability to copy any powers tried to copy Super Boy's and he just said, "Wrong." And it just works, the guy can't copy his powers.

While Goku might not be able to beat Clark, he gives the man of tomorrow something else ; fun. Superman can't have a battle at a high level just for fun often, it's always for the sake of the multiverse, but Goku, the cheeky guy can push him to those heights without any big stakes. That liberation of consequences must feel so nice and Goku gets to have a peak to always strive for, a wall that might never be surmounted but he's gonna try anyway. It's poetic really.

I was once an Edgy Teenager who prefers Batman and Villains but having to read all of Superman's greatest stories since I wanted to give him a chance he became my second favorite DC character of all time.

I mean, you are right, but its also frustrating that to be able to know his whole story you have to read vagintillion comic books and try to piece together dozens of timelines, writen by over 100 different writers.
Also Superman became the status quo, the meassuring stick of whats justice and good, and I think that is what made it unnappealing to the younger generations, whose whole thing is being rebellious regardless of the generation.
He is what our parents wished they could be, so that made it less appealing to the sons and the sons of their sons. Plus, not everyone is abel to catch the essence of what superman is, and go on him being a source of strenght, instead of a source of morality.
I can see both sides, of people who like him and people who dont. And I understand people who are too overwhelmed and dont want to dabble in something they wont be able to experience completely, myself included.
I think the Justice League animation series really does him justice.

No it's just that superman continuity is a mess. Some dude 30 years ago writes that superman is infinitly fast and that just makes everything pointless. And he then gets hurt by some spikes by some dude. No modern story that has superman adheres to those obscure feats. I mean those are all technically all canon but are in effect totally irrelevant and retconed in the story by never being used.

I will say, the guy they had research superman quite literally read every comic superman has ever been in. Like ever. His notes for the episode were over 400000 words long, which is larger than most novels
For comparison, for anyone who has read Harry Potter, the Order of the Phoenix is the longest book in the series, and it's around 250k words in length. The Philosopher's Stone is the shortest book in the series, at about 76k words. So for his notes to be 400k words, he would have had to have written the Order of the Phoenix and two Philosopher's Stones.

My personal favorite character to throw at others from anime/manga is sinbad from magi, I don't think anyone from dragonball can touch him. Maybe down the line that could change, but currently, I don't believe they could.

I mean, considering that goku has shook the world of void, which is stated to be infinite, and he moved in frozen time. So, with those feats, he could technically one-shot anyone. But we don't really use them because they were either mentioned in only one scene or because it's unfun to do it that way.

Death Battle used a composite-version of Superman and Goku which don´t exist in any continuity but without even giving them their full powers.
Dragonball Super Goku would oneshot most mainline-Supermans.
When Death Battle says: "Goku would beat almost all versions of Superman except the main one.", they weren´t actually talking about one of the ACTUAL main-Superman-versions, they were talking about a composite-version of Superman which they created themselves by combinind feats from multiple different mainline-Superman-versions.
If we used an actual composite-version of both mainline-Supermans and I guess DBS-Goku and Dragonball Heroes Goku, Goku would win in a literal instant.
Not only did Death Battle claim that Heroes Goku and canon Goku were basically the same, they also downplayed Heroes Goku to justify that.
A composite-mainline-Superman could threaten time and space with his strength and travel through time by focusing all of his strength into his speed.
A composite-Goku (aka. DBS Goku and Heroes Capsule Corps Goku) could destroy an infinite number of timelines in his base-form, and that in a literal instant.
All Dragonball-movies are canon in Heroes even if they contradict eachother, that´s the kind of universe Heroes is.
In the Metal Cooler movie, Goku and Cooler fight at speeds that surpass Goku´s Instant Transmission, a teleportation-technique which teleports him literally in an instant.
Base-Xeno Goku (who is shown to be comparable if not slightly weaker to Capsule Corps Goku) is able to travel to alternate timelines with raw speed alone.
Xeno Goku also fights a character named Shroom who´s attacks ignore time and space itself and hit their opponent instantly regardless of whether Shroom´s strike itself physically connects with his opponent.

Most mainline-Superman-versions at their peak are low-multiversal while Base-Goku is casually low-multiversal.
The only scenario in which I can see Superman winning is if he somehow manages to buy enough time to accelarate to immeasurable speed, which would take him several pages as we see in Pre-Crisis, and time-travel to a point in time before the fight and catch Goku off-guard or something.

Nothing says it can't. UI may look like a transformation, but it's more a mental and bodily harmony. He'd need to relearn it almost every level, but it is entirely possible in Kaioken. Of course, we're speaking peak of peak TMUI Goku here. And by time we get there, we know he's going to learn a new, more absurd trick.
My ONLY complaint is that, well, they established Goku's scaled to that final Demigra, who could wipe out hundreds of thousands of universes/timelines. But that wasn't emphasized in the fight and only show him wiping out one universe like it was SSJG Goku.

He has multiple enemies that can solo the entirety of db's cosmology, from Darkseid to doomsday, there's plenty of enemies to challenge superman. DC comics takes from real world science, with some liberty, so it's not all comic nonsense. The concept of infinity does exist in our world, along with string theory, the multiverse theory, and the possibility of higher dimensions. DC(and marvel too) just takes those theories, applies them to their world, and expands upon it. And it's not like manga/anime is any less ridiculous. Superman's better written than the godfather.

if you want to look at in another interesting way...they did wipe out the universe. something canonically superman could and probably has survived, (they do say he can't be wiped from existence), while goku technically needs a universe to live... that ending makes it look like Supes is waiting on his buddy to wake up after sparring...
I will say though of the three death battles between these two, this one felt the most in-character for both of them during the fight.

Except that Superman does in fact have limits, as he's demonstrated countless times throughout his entire publication history. Said limits are subject to increase for little to no apparent reason far far too often as Superman is one of the worst superheroes in fiction, but they do exist. Any time Superman has been hit by a supervillain and actually hurt, there's a limit. Every time he's punched a villain and they are barely scratched, there's a limit. Every time he's been unable to burn something with his heat vision, there's a limit, and so on and so forth. Even at his worst written Superman has never just gone from 0 to infinity at the drop of a hat.
Goku surpasses his limits with hard work. Superman surpasses his limits because the writers are hacks and ignore said limits in order to resolve the plot. For both, those limits still exist.
It's always interesting to wonder how much thought gets put into Superman's feats. Many of his most accomplishments are so insane they circle back around to being laughable.
Superman has a limit when the plot says he does.
During said 17th rematch between these two, Superman will have to go to a few other galaxies and Goku might have time to charge his spirit bomb.
The reason they get so analytical is because not everyone is like you were they go "Oh yeah, Superman folds Goku." So they have to show it so they can at least see the logic through the rage/disappointment that their favorite boi lost.
Some death battle match ups are chosen to be somewhat close, others are chosen to be thematic.

Unfornutaely, Vegeta mentions, in the Super manga I think, that Zenkai Boosts have provided diminishing returns at that point, so its no longer useful to have near death, or full death, experinces in battle.

You got to understand nux. Superman's problem is not that he's never strong enough. It's that he doesn't want to go too far. That's where that whole living in a world made of cardboard saying came from during the fight. He always takes constant care not to destroy everything because he could easily do it. The struggle isn't to win, the struggle is to win without annihilating everything. Plus at the end of the day Goku has to transform to get to his strongest. Superman is just at his strongest all the time. I'm a Superman and go through fan and I love them both but I'm realistic. Maybe one day Goku will beat Main canon Superman but it's not going to be anytime soon until Goku beats a Zeno level feet there's no use even thinking he can even come close to Main series Superman.

Goku doesn't really fight to prove he is stronger, the fight itself is the goal. Him saying the fight is to determine who is stronger feels so out of character. The remark would only make sense if it was to motivate his opponent with an ego for an ever better fight.
