Ted Lasso shows how well you can pay off your characters in the finale when you go in with a clear plan on when to wrap things up.

I know you've got The Bear next but The Good Place is something that has the heart of Ted Lasso.
Both are pretty great shows... I hope he watches both.
Before Ted Lasso, the Good Place was my favorite series of all time, by a huge margin, but Ted Lasso was just what I needed, right when I needed it.
Kintsugi - the Japanese art of restoring broken pottery with gold in the cracks to embrace the imperfections. This is what they did with the Believe sign, and it's PERFECT.
Its also important to note that the psychic actually demonstrated this to Rebecca.
Fun fact: the actors actually sang that song, Kola Bokinni (Isaac), Cristo Fernandez (Dani) and Toheeb Jimoh (Sam) all actually sing that well. Plus it’s on Spotify as part of the official soundtrack, you’re welcome😅
Let me start by simply saying thank you, I've really enjoyed your reactions to Ted Lasso. I appreciate that your reactions are genuine and to quote some Shakespeare, you're not afraid to wear your heart on your sleeve.
Even though I'm from the UK, I'm not a particular fan of football. However, the programmes are so well written and acted you can't help but enjoy them. They do a fantastic job of giving a rollercoaster of emotions and I like that they have so many callbacks.

I was hoping you caught the switch with Jamie's hat. Usually it says ICON, it's been replaced with I, COG. A cog makes the wheel turn and the engine run. This role is essential, and keeps the rest of the wheel turning. Very symbolic of Jamie asking to be the central midfielder instead of the star, shooting all the goals. He keeps the whole team going, and is crucial to their success on the field. His growth over the three seasons is my favorite part of the show.
It's so funny how almost every reaction I see including me went STFU to Dr. Jacob during the match lmao
While Ted and Michelle is pretty ambiguous (and intentionally so), it's pretty clear that Michelle isn't with Dr. Jacob in the end. If you pay attention to the scenes with Michelle, Henry, and Dr. Jacob during the match, you'll see that Dr. Jacob is physically getting further away from the other two, symbolically showing them drifting apart. Combined with Michelle and Henry not wanting anything to do with his commentary during the match and him being nowhere to be seen after Ted gets home, it's pretty clear he and Michelle are done.
After this episode aired, Brendan Hunt (Beard) did an AMA on Reddit. You'd probably be interested in checking it out
Dr Jacob is the true villain of the whole show

A big thing I like is that Ted really takes a back seat in the finale. He’s soaking in the seeds he’s sown through the club and like you said it was never really about him it was the people.

I just realised that in the last scene, the music that was used to signal an anxiety attack transitioned into a nice beat.

I feel like it is strongly implied that Ted and Michelle will eventually reconcile. But I love that they didn't show it.
I can finally comment this: Jamie’s journey on this story it’s one of the best things I have ever seen. He went from icon, to teammate and finally leader. Wonderfully perfect.

I loved that they left Keely’s romantic status as ambivalent. Did she end up with either of her two exes? Did they all just stay friends? Who knows!
Rupert’s fall was satisfying, made more so by the regret you see on his face when all he can hear is “Wanker!!” shouted at him from the fans that he had once been a part of. The fact that Ted is not happy to see him brought so low is not a surprise, but Rebecca doesn’t like it either, which shows just how far she’s recovered from the divorce.
I loved all of the small callbacks here. One of the most subtle is Nathan’s “‘S wonderful!” when hearing that Jamie and Roy were now friends. He said it exactly the same way in season 1 and Ted appreciated his use of the classic show tune.
I also loved the Higgins family barbecue at the end, with everyone showing up, including Rebecca and her Dutch pilot with his daughter who obviously knows and is friendly with Phoebe, and Dani and Zorro playing nerf battle with the Higgins boys.
That final montage gets me every damn time.....😭
I've been watching this series just to see that "OH! OH! OH!" reaction to Rebecca's Amsterdam pilot.
Leicester City FC, who shocked everyone by "winning the whole bloody thing" after narrowly avoiding relegation the year before, won the Championship this year and will play in the Premier League once again in the 2024-25 season.
Aww I'm sad that The Good Place lost but The Bear is an amazing show too and I am looking forward to seeing your reaction to it. Your Ted Lasso videos also were a place of comfort for us. Your love for it and your thoughtful commentary made for a lovely rewatch. It was a really special show and I will always remember how kind it was towards life.
Honestly Ted telling beard "it's the other side coach" when beard is yelling about his appendix is one of the best jokes

Just some random things from the magazines in the airport I think you didn't notice: zava comes back from retirement to play for a soccer team in LA, which is *exactly* what zlatan did in real life. Rupert's former assistant goes to the reality show "Lust Conquers All", the love island parody that Jaime was in. Bex publishes a recipe book with recipes to make with a placenta. Shandy actually launches Starfucker and is successful. Trent's book has "a very brief foreword by Roy Kent". I think that's it :)
McAdoo is always so extra, & I love it. And them using the People's Court music is just fantastic.

This wasn't my first time watching a reaction of this series, but it was a best. Most people shy away from showing their emotions when it comes to the hard stuff, but you show it all, and it's beautiful. After a bit of a break, I look forward to binging the series. One of my favorite things about watching reactions to shows I've watched and loved is that I get to experience them all over again, and at the same time see someone else fall in love with the stories and the characters. This show is just such a comforting and motivational one that I loved every single season. I don't think I've ever had a warmth in my heart from a show as much as this one. The character development of all the characters is absolutely phenomenal. Even the smaller side ones made amazing stride from season one to this last one. It's been a pleasure watching you react to the entire series!
There are people out there who not only don't like this finale but don't like the whole final season. Absolutely ridiculous.
Wouldn't it be great if the writing team would actually write and publish Trent's book? Reliving the third season from Trent's perspective would be so much fun.

So happy you're doing The Bear next! That's a great one to slide into after this. Also has some really great character arcs through the seasons. A bit more drama than Ted but still very touching at times. Sad to see Ted go again, but it's been great watching someone else experience it new.

Really looking forward to your watch of The Bear. The first season is really great, the second season is somehow even better, including two of the finest episodes of TV ever.
If you want to see a series that is equally "beautiful" and "comforting", try watching The Good Place... a very good show that grows with each chapter.
The good thing is that you can always rewatch the series, I've done it many times. It's like comfort food. The bad thing is it's sometimes a struggle to get through the first season because you want the 2nd and 3rd season character growth from Jamie and others.
I think it’s a known fact that this is one of the greatest finales to a show ever.
I absolutely blubbered my way through this finale, it was sheer perfection. I think it overtook the title of my favorite, most perfect series finale (long held by Parks and Rec).
It was such a joy to watch this series with you, I’m so glad you loved it, it’s a special show.

I like that they left Keeley’s lovelife hanging. Her journey should be one where she needs to do on her own for sometime, not having to always attach herself romantically with someone. Only then she can be, Keeley “fucking” Jones.
Amen! It's also much better for Roy and Jamie's friendship, not to mention that as cute as Roy and Keeley were together, I've shipped Roy and the teacher since their first scene together.

I feel like the end of this show is very similar to finale of Gravity Falls. Just because Ted is going home doesn't mean he can't go back and visit his friends and the team.

This is a very minor point, but from the first time they showed Shannon "sticking it to The Man" and the few times she interacted with Ted and even Henry, I thought they might find a way to work her into the story. In that last montage when Keely pitched the the idea of a women's team to Rebecca, I wish Shannon was there with Keely. She'd be the first player I'd sign. Again, minor point. I love this show. Also Phil Dunster was brilliant as Jamie from start to finish.
I thought I read somewhere that Shannon originally wasn't going to be a recurring character until the audience received her so well on her first appearance. IIRC, her character didn't even have a name then, she was "Soccer Girl in Park" or something. My little pack of soccer fans still consider Shannon showing up again as proof that when you get 'nutmeged', they carry your soul in their back pocket. 😆 I was actually kind of stoked to see her at Trent's book signing.
If you run out of shows, Only Murders in the Building is really good. You could catch up before the next season starts in August.

After finishing this show last year, I’ve probably watched about 12 different reaction series. I’ve loved watching others react to my favorite characters and moments throughout all three season. This is the first that I’m leaving a comment under.
I found my self looking forward to your reactions every single week, more excited than the last as you neared the finale. This has been a lovely series and I will absolutely be sticking around to rewatch The Bear with you!

It took me a full 2 months after the finale aired before I could finally bring myself to watch it and it hurt me. MORE!!!!
Many wonder why Ted was not present at Berird's wedding, but given Beard and Jade are, well, different, I believe the whole Stone Henge wedding was planned for the same week as the plane back, Jade knew and planned it all.
Ted's actor gave a nice answer about how sometimes we can't be physically present for a friend, even for a big event, but we're still there in spirit (I believe he cited an incident where he actually couldn't be there for a friend's wedding.)
Jane is Beard's lady and Jade is Nate's.

Given the state of her pregnancy, I think that Beard had been wanting to get married, but Jane waited until right before she popped to agree to a last-minute handfasting at Stonehenge. Brendon Hunt said that not having Ted there was actually a reference to a wedding that he himself missed for his own best friend who married when Brendon was busy for work.
I don't know if there was ever a perfect TV show from start to finish but even through only watching reactors watch this since I don't have Amazon Prime or whatever it was on, this show is PERFECT.

One of if not the best show ever, incredibly funny every episode and the most heartfelt show I've ever seen. The character arcs should be taught in screenwriting/fiction classes.

SO many callbacks hidden in this. Just a few (there's honestly too many to list). The flight attendant who thinks Ted is an ahole is the SAME one who accompanies Henry to the plane in Ep1 of this season. The person Trent is signing the book for is the girl Ted always encountered playing Football on the street. "Willis" being Beards name is a callback to the episode where Ted said "What You Talking About Willis", where everybody was supposed to assume Ted was simply using the catchphrase from that old TV show Diff'rent Strokes. The Lasso Way book title is a callback all the way to Episode1 of Season 1, where Rebecca tells the press that from now on they're doing the things the Lasso way. Henry's number on his Jersey is Jamie's Jersey number.

The Bear is so good
Whether Tedd and Michelle got back together or not, it appeared to me that Dr. Jacob was out of the picture. Not only was he not around at the soccer practice, he didn't appear to be around when Tedd arrived back in America either. In fact, Tedd seemed to be unloading his luggage at Michelle's place suggesting he was going to be staying there for at least a little while, which I don't think would have worked super well if Dr. Jacob had still been in the picture. I get the impression that he actually did take Michelle to Paris to propose a few episodes back, but she wasn't able to answer him, and things slowly tapered off from there, which may have been part of why he seemed so disinterested in that final game. He likely knew things weren't going to work out by then, and so couldn't even bother to pretend to be invested in something so important.
Aww. I would have loved to watch Lucifer again with you. Havent seen The Bear- so i guess i will be missing those.

@@SupaKen74 It has some feel-good moments here and there, but that’s definitely not what it’s trying for. It’s chaotic and stressful (and also very funny and incredibly well-written and acted).
