This was there little brother who passed away at age of 30..he was gonna be part of bee gees but passed away before..his brothers were his backup singers.. Barry wrote this song for him.... entire family so talented..
Andy Gibb's third #1 Billboard Hot 100 (3 in a row-- a record that still stands 34 years later!} The song was written by all three of the Bee Gees along with Andy.
RIP Andy. He was the youngest of the Bee Gee brothers. He had a solo career but was set to join his brothers in the Bee Gee group. He died very young...
He died 5 days after his 30th birthday. He was clean and sober when he died. He had been sober for around 2+ years before he passed. Yes he chose coke over her but he died of myocarditis (heart infection).
@@tinakeith5822Sadly, when he became depressed at Robin's & started drinking again, that's what killed him. And that all had to do with writers block, as Andy told Robin & their mother it was getting him down. Question I've always had is why didn't Robin help him to write? Barry & Mo already helped him write & record 4 songs in Miami, so he was in the UK staying at Robin's, so he was close to Island Records to finish it. Think we all know if it had been Mo there, Robin would've NEVER turned his back on him.
My very first concert in 1978, I was 13. My mom surprised me with a ticket to his concert. My older brother dropped me off and picked me up afterwards. I was the envy of all my friends cuz none of their parents allowed them to attend.
"Best Chair Dancing Award". for you, Tasha..My favorite thing about this song..From 4:36 on, the strings are playing riffs that remind you of shadows darting along the wall..Oh yeah, and that funky bass line, too. 5:30-His brothers sang the back-ups on this..I think they wrote it for him as well.
Andy was my favorite of the Brother's Gibb he was very talented in his own right. No one can take anything from him. He was so sexyyy. Sadly he passed away at 30 yrs young. He is it for me. The Bee Gee's who?? lol joking but again Andy was awesome.
You probably get tired of me telling you how beautiful you always look, but you are amazing 💖!!! Love these songs that take me back when I was in the US Navy serving overseas! Thank you sweetie 💕!!!
Too bad Andy couldn't stay off the cocaine what a sad loss to soon. Myocacardits unfortunately he wasn't on cocaine at the time but prior years of his cocaine abuse in late 70s thru early 80s weakened his heart
Hell of a groove isn't it? Well, I'm glad you were grooving with the grooving, LOL. I think Barry was the main writer/creator of the song but looks like another commenter here was right, that formally all four were listed as the song writers so I'm sure they all contributed creatively. I appreciate your appreciation of this song.
To think he was just 19 years old! The talent, the loss the possibilities…. Another casualty of living live in the fast lane. He and I were Birthday twins then he died 10 days beside my first child was born. What a loss!
I was told that "Shadow dancing" is the only song of all the songs the bee gees wrote where all 4 brothers is listed as the authors. It will be interesting if this could be confirmed.
I still remember where I was and what I was doing when I found out the horrible news that Andy had died. I cried!!!! RIP ANDY GIBB You were always my favorite!!!!!

Andy's story is so tragic...I truly believe he died from a broken heart!
He died from myocarditis 5 days after his 30th birthday. I got to go to his gravesite last summer.
