Thanks for this video. Was a while ago, but I've only just recently got into the idea of bikepacking. I'm in Castlemaine (so been riding singletrack a while) and I'm looking to try this as my first longer trip. How many days did you take, and what sort of mileage were you doing each day?
Love the videos, bout to hit the goldfields track this long weekend. Was just wondering were you camped around 6min on the video? Looks like a good spot.
@@FatTraction Thanks heaps, I'll look it up for next time. I'm hitting up the dry diggings track tomorrow as I had to bypass it the summer gone as I ran out of spare tubes and took the highway to castlemaine for a bike shop..
Iv'e ridden the Goldfields Track a few times and I think its one of the worst bike packing rides you could do. The track is terribly overgrown with prickly bushes and the track is horribly rocky and shitty around the Castlemain area. I would not recommend that ride to anyone. There are lots of better rides in Victoria. Good on you Guys tho, luv ya work
All depends what you're in to. I really enjoyed the rocky section near Castlemaine. And the fat bike handled it great. But I can imagine it would suck on a gravel bike.
I've done it three times and loved it every time. Once on a 29er hard tail, twice on a light full suspension XC racer and always ha a ball. Just ordered a fat bike and forgot you guys had ridden this on yours, can't wait for this years goldfields trip, fully fat this time! (well, 3.8" and 27.5 anyway).
Great video, really well put together. It gives a great perspective of the track. I can't wait to do it.
Thanks mate!
