- This "Notes of Appreciation" performance features Boston Symphony principal bassist Edwin Barker, performing the "Prelude" and "Fugue" from Bach's Cello Suite No. 5. The suites are difficult enough for cellists, for whom the music was written; but it's even more challenging on a double bass!
Dear Ed, So beautiful, and thank you for this inspiration. With admiration, Orin O.
Stunning! Thank you for showing the majestic low register of our noble instrument.
Really beautiful. A moving performance indeed. Thank you Ed.
So glad to hear a double bass and understand all the notes. Wonderful, thanks.
Dear Ed, so glad to listen to that and know that you're in perfect shape. Great performance, as always. I miss you, your lessons! Henrique Autran Dourado, '82
Beautiful performance!
Fabulous! Enjoyed this tremendously and brings back special memories of lessons at your home. I hope you've been well!
Ir is very good to listen to a low version. Everybody wants to play it in the cello register, but the bass is a bass and the middle register sounds just great. Thank you very much!
Bravissimo!!!
Very moving Ed! Bravo!
Holy cow this is good❤
Bravo Maestro!
Assolutamente bellissimo e fantastico !!!
Superb!
Bravo!!!
Master!!!!!
Wow!
woooaaooh ...
Wonderful performance! Thank you Mr. Barker. Bach is so good for the soul during these troubling times. I’m a NEC trained clarinetist, but I love the Bass - Herman Reinshagen was my Great-Uncle. I enjoy playing BACH on clarinet, here’s me performing the Chaconne :)

Again, thank you for the fantastic performance, just what I needed tonight! 🎵 Theresa Reinshagen-Grissino
I find it easier on Double Bass if it's tuned in Fifths
this is rather surprising - it is out of tune
