You guys are so good together, been watching your videos for awhile now, started from the beginning…me and my grandson love watching you guys, he’s 3 and he loves the doggies ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I just love watching what you do. Some of it brings back memories of growing up with my grandparents, some Shows me other ways of doing what I do, but a lot of it just reminds me of my dad. He travelled to Alaska and came home determined to make the move. He didn’t live long enough to do it. Watching y’all, I imagine my dad’s living his afterlife much as you are.
I have something to contribute for once! You should try adding your dough to a medium hot oiled (or larded) skillet and top it while it browns slightly on the bottom and finish in the oven, the wife and kids love it.
Your next project is generally one of the first I do when I move. While my wife doesn't like line dried clothes, I much prefer it. And it's hard to get heavier bedding dry in a dryer. Just makes sense to do it the old way.
Inside Clothes line? The live edge project is super cool. I got some plans for some live edge stuff in the future. The dogs looked warm and cozy in the truck.
Hi…..I have two new sleeping bags….only used once. They are really super nice bags and we will never use them again! I was gonna mail em to you guys unless you’d rather I didn’t?!
Nice i just watched the video looks good minus that Lowe’s lumber 😉 lol jk, that foam post mix needs to be braced or held while the foam expands which honestly doesn’t take long also if the mix was outside before you were ready for it that doesn’t help, the packaging needs to be about 60-80 degrees to work properly and it expands faster in warmer temperatures of course but yeah I’m the lumber department supervisor at HD and it was a huge seller for us last year for the remote builders and that was the feed back that the vendor and our customers gave back to us
We did have it in the house prior to bringing outside but I guess two braces would have been better on each post, we can't knock it down for our error. Lightness factor it is way better than concrete for remote building. We really like the weight of concrete but think it is a good product overall and yes it sets super fast! :)
Cool little shelf/hanger project.👍 Great find on the window. I remember what it was like pulling out the generator and using it to complete some of the projects around the homestead. Thanks for sharing.
Love the shelf. You work great together. Trying to catch up on your older videos. It could be a clothes like but I don't know those were plastic pullies don't know how long they would last in the cold. So I guess I will just have to wait and see.
Ok for minimalists, you have a lot of stuff. I love that you repurpose and make unique items. Keep on keeping on... I am gathering throw away wood at Home Depot, building up my garden bed with four foot lengths. The twisted nails cost plenty but the plan is still quite inexpensive. I'll post on my FB when done a picture. You do the right thing when you make something from nothing, your brains are working, your creativity is inspiring. You challenge me to do likewise.
Looks like you could use all that to rig up some kind of rapid pizza delivery system for when one of you is in the kitchen when the pizza is ready and the other is outdoors and doesn't have time to come inside. Just run the pizza out to them on a line!
Loving your vids. Cool shelf. Yummy pizza. Clothesline. I hung clothes outside on my clothesline yesterday (12-21-19). It was fabulous. When I brought them in, to finish drying, my house smelled so fresh!! Yowers. Not sure what the temp was yesterday, but driving home from church, today, it was 49!! In Michigan...I'll take it. Enjoy your homestead & Merry CHRISTmas 2 u & all your critters.
Just watching some older ones and cooking I had to get my head out of dodge while I was braising pork...... Pork chops and apple sauce..... It makes me laugh every time I have them both together, I hope you know that clip from the Brady Bunch or I'm really showing my age... The pups really like to ride first class, really beautiful dogs. I like a big dog those little things not so much.... I have never been in anything that shook the ground expect the miss use of gasoline... whops. I don't even know if you look at old comments... Have a great night got to go tend to my dinner, wish you were cooking....
For some really good ideas on this type of thing, take a look at the Boss of the Swamp. He is great and has some really good ideas on almost everything. He is located in New Hampshire and was in upstate New York, so it gets cold there. Hunting, canning building, you name it.
I would say an in door clothesline between the loft and the front wall. Good thing I haven't seen whether I'm right or not yet. I'm interested to see if I'm correct.
Can you lower the volume of the music....it's always 25% louder then the talking parts....always have to turn it down. If there's a compressor program online you may be able to get one for your phone video that will balance the music and talking. You tube may have one when you load the video??? You just run the file through the compressor and it's balanced....takes a couple minutes.
Pretty major just watch them come from what they're coming from to where they will be in 2 years it's quite an experience I'm not sure that they really realize how much of a part of people's lives they really end up being
I bet that area has a few snowshoe hares. Would a underground root cellar stay pretty cold in the summer time in your neck of the woods? I know you're in Alaska but I'm not sure how for north you need to be to get semi frozen ground year round.
We hopefully will be digging an in ground storage for crops next year, I am not sure on exact depth but I believe the permafrost is several feet deep where we are at. We do seem to have a decent amount of the hares running around, hoping to try one.
So what caused it? I ask because we had one in Northern Missouri a few years ago that scared the dickens out of me. Never had one here before. Turned out that Oklahoma was doing way too much fracking and they had to cut way back.
@@SimpleLivingAlaska No they aren't and ours was nothing compared to yours I'm sure. Did have to pull the cats' claws from the ceiling though after I got down. I thought it was creepy.
I love your videos but to be honest, the background music is annoying. It is too loud yet when I turn it down I can’t hear when you are talking. I’m probably the only one that has trouble with this, just blame it on old age. Did you do any special training with your dogs? They are so well behaved in the vehicles!
Ok I just going to say it! The music is annoying so I turn off the volume, then you start talking. Does kind of create a problem. I really do enjoy your videos. Cranky ole lady!
I agree, that surging music is horrible. It's sounds like a bratty 5 year old is deliberately twisting the volume knob up and down. I had to mute it too. :(
Oh Boy!! I thought we talked about that in counseling?? Remember we were just going to talk to the spouse and not try to really shut them up permanently? I would have to say duct tape might work better but I guess you could put clothes pins on the individuals lips and eye lids. But to string them up I might recommend a stronger tackle block. Now if your amish you could use those two round things to go way high in a tree or out building and pull your wet clothes way out away from your house and keep pinning on your wet clean clothes!! The Amish usually have a bigger round thing with a handle to crank it back in. See ya with dry clothes nixt time!!
OK guys, I know you're doing it as a "effect", but the fast-paced scenes of zipping down the road at light speed makes me queasy. Too many years of driving on ice. Bleahh!
I still peg my laundry out on a line. We are pretty old fashioned in the UK
Peg. Love that! We hang on a line with clothes pins so we pin our laundry!!
I get bad about forgetting to comment. However, when a channel is this good, it's going to get recommended regardless I think. Thanks you two!
You guys are so good together, been watching your videos for awhile now, started from the beginning…me and my grandson love watching you guys, he’s 3 and he loves the doggies ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love that you guys do everything together! Great team work.
Your teamwork is the best!
I have something to contribute for once! You should try adding your dough to a medium hot oiled (or larded) skillet and top it while it browns slightly on the bottom and finish in the oven, the wife and kids love it.

Outstanding and par of excellence video.Great job both of you have done .Keep working and smp
I love to reuse recycle to make projects it’s so fun. Yours turned out great ❤️
Clothesline...getting that wonderful outdoor feeling to what you wear!
Inside Clothes line?
The live edge project is super cool.
I got some plans for some live edge stuff in the future.
The dogs looked warm and cozy in the truck.
You guessed it! We love the live edge look, we will be doing some more projects like this in the near future hopefully :)
That’s cool. I like the live edge look too. 👍
I remember the earthquake up there. I followed it. So thankful no one was hurt.
Hi…..I have two new sleeping bags….only used once. They are really super nice bags and we will never use them again! I was gonna mail em to you guys unless you’d rather I didn’t?!
I love the way of life you both live . Keep the videos coming . From a Limey. God Bless You.
we had massive earthquakes here, flattened my city, christchurch, that was 10 years ago, we still get aftershocks
I just love all your videos. I miss working in the wood shop with my Dad
A clothes line- wish I still had mine up- dinner looks delish!
I think I saw y’all today at Home Depot this evening getting roofing supplies 😂 how cool thanks for shopping with us at The Wasilla Home Depot 👍🏼
Ryan Turrentine, that was us! We are in the works of building a chicken coop :)

Love the shelf, very cool. Always hang my clothes out to dry when I can. They smell so fresh. Dinner looks delicious.
Earth quakes are terrifying. I have family up in Alaska that were in it. They are all good just lots of broken glass. The shelf came out great!!!!
Thank you! Yes it wasn't pleasant by any means, glad your family is okay. We were fortunate to not have damage compared to some folks.
I love y’all channel. Just recently discovered it and I’m on video #50. Yes, I counted them. lol.
We use a close line too!
Really cool shelf. I love your thrift side. I try to live this way also. Blessings 💕
Dogs lucky day riding in the back seat hahaha. Nice to watch you work on a project together and that pizza looks amazing!
A clothes line maybe? And Vod bless and prayers for safety ! And thanks for sharing
Your correct!
Really like the live edged shelf/coatrack.
Cool little shelf/hanger project.👍 Great find on the window. I remember what it was like pulling out the generator and using it to complete some of the projects around the homestead. Thanks for sharing.
I love love love that shelf you guys made!!!! And the key one to lol
I don’t know the content of this video but believe on start must be outstanding vlog and will give final comments at the end video.
Awesome shelf! Clothesline.
Looks like you stopped at 3 bears. I have heard that there were some injuries but not many. Yesterday (Friday) the number was 2600 aftershocks.
Shoot, I didn't see that anywhere. Still feeling a few aftershocks! And yes we made a pit stop at three bears!
Good job
Love the shelf. You work great together. Trying to catch up on your older videos. It could be a clothes like but I don't know those were plastic pullies don't know how long they would last in the cold. So I guess I will just have to wait and see.
Jo Harmon we dry clothes in the winter inside :) You are right that plastic does not hold up so well with the extreme cold.
your dogs are so cute
I lived through one in Greece. Scary for sure.

You are going to build a clothing line to dry outside ! Hello from Chicago!
Looks great!
Wow I loved those shelves you made and the pizza looks delicious 🍕🦌
I love the new rack and shelves! Pizza looks great too!

I love drying clothes outside.
Nothing better than sheets that have been dried outside. Not true for towels however.
Recycle, repurpose and reuse!🙂
I would like the cake recipe please. :)
Clothesline!
There are very inexpensive LED Coleman lanterns you could get, instead of using propane, if you wanted
Ever show using that free window ?
Cold frame
Hi guys, love the shelf, I'm always down for pizza . Keep up the good work
Thank you, we are a pizza loving family!
Nice life guys...I'm am jealous 😇
Love you guys... my wife and I are looking to sell our home in Seattle and buy remote... wish we were neighbors :)

The fast forward on the driving part of this video gave me anxiety 😂

Drying your clothes by freezing the water out of them. I'll be right over for a slice of that pizza. Thanks for sharing. 👍

Have snared anything yet or is that still on the to-do list?
To do list! Specifically snowshoe hares.
I bet that area has a few snowshoe hares. Would a underground root cellar stay pretty cold in the summer time in your neck of the woods? I know you're in Alaska but I'm not sure how for north you need to be to get semi frozen ground year round.

Vicki Takacs I don't believe they have said anything caused it but I hope it's the last one. Not fun 😬
@@SimpleLivingAlaska No they aren't and ours was nothing compared to yours I'm sure. Did have to pull the cats' claws from the ceiling though after I got down. I thought it was creepy.
Wow 😬 ours just took off out the cat door
@@SimpleLivingAlaska I need to work on my jokes.
Look up New Madrid Fault.
Missouri has had a couple of severe earthquakes. Made the Mississippi run backward in early 1800s.

That looks like you will be putting up a cloth line to freeze dry your clothes
