  • As most of you probably know already, Optus, one of Australia's largest telco companies has been the victim of a cybersecurity incident which has seen the data exfiltration of up to 10 million customer records including personally identifiable information.
In this video, I give outline some unconfirmed theories on how the data may have been breached, what Optus is doing about the breach, and most importantly, how it affects you and I.

Drivers license numbers leaked. That’s huge.

The advice from Optus’ (poorly managed) communication after the fact was for NSW residents they wouldn’t have to reset their drivers license number. Knowing this now, do you think that advice is suitable or Optus trying to downplay the severity of their issue?

Hmm, good question. I think there is A LOT that we don't know about this breach and I'm not happy with that to be honest. Being that it is OUR information, Optus should be 100% transparent with what occurred. I do certainly think they are downplaying it but by how much, I don't know. Would love to be a fly on the wall in their war rooms though.

In very late to know about this thing I have seen my emails yesterday, the that my passport has impacted by this. I'm international student and everything I have here to there is on my passport, and don't know what to do to fix it, also if only my passport was stolen as company says, or every other identities also 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🙇🏻
