I really enjoyed watching you work the old Allis 72 . I'm glad you was still able to get a good harvest even with the weather you got trying to harvest it . I hope you guys have a great weekend !
Beautiful crop going into the bag! The old AC72 is doing a great job, just like it was designed to do! When Grandpa combined clover with the AC40, he had to wait until late November in Southeast Michigan for the clover to have been froze and dry enough to combine. Grandpa's original AC40 had a 2 bag system on a platform instead of a hopper. I spent many hours riding that seat to switch and tie bags, it's a wonder why I don't have hearing issues today!
They are noisy! I can see waiting to get the clover through a 40. This is one job the 72 really excels at, but, the innes pickup is allowing it to work ;)
My first combine when I started in '76 was a 66 All -Crop in good condition for soybeans and oats. The full width cylinder to header width is it's advantage over the narrow cylinder of the small self-propelled Gleaners. A decent very affordable machine for small acres then-- $250 I think I paid for mine which included two extra parts machines. Congratulations on being able to replace the long belt on the back from your dealer yet in the 2020s!?
Yay for lots of clover seed even though you’re having to rake before and then crawl along at a snails pace. Hopefully you had some jamming music playing in your ears!
Good day Boy interesting video. Those 3 pt pto rake wow they do a good job, ours did not have reducer on so we run it straight. I think u could rake lawn with it in low gear. Thanks for now
Back in the day, AC 60/66’s were very common around here 👍🏻. Everyone dreams of direct cutting, but seldom gets to do it. There’s usually just too much rain. We have had better luck on seed when we push the hay cutting earlier (late May/early June). This puts the seed crop in late July where typically it is to moist yet for direct cutting. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Really like watching your machinery working and you telling about how it works, maintenance you do do, and fixes you make. I think red clover seed is around $100-$130 for 50# bag so you save a lot of money. Do you use it all or do you also sell the seed? I’m sure the cows enjoy coming in that field when ya get all finished. Have a great day. Keep up the good work. God bless
We sell some 👍🏻. Price is 2.50 for certified organic this year 🙂. Seems every year is a new challenge! I try to take decent care of my machines👍🏻. Thanks for watching!
I love red clover for it's ease of establishment , but I'm not a huge fan of the hay.....it always seems dark in color and so damn dusty. I don't know how the cows view it , I prefer Alfalfa but I have also put up some stemmy alfalfa that wasn't great either , what's your opinion?
Good clover is equal to fair alfalfa Rob. When feeding, I alternate between the two. They both have a place! Bad clover is pretty much ditchfill 🙁. My neighbors chop or wrap the first cutting in order to get it at the right time. I have luck with dry hay...
where did you find a pickuphead for it, i have a straight cut head, if i pick up the reel, can i still use it to pick up a swathed crop of oats, peas, barley, wheat.
@@billshaver1767 I have no experience. I would guess the screen size for the largest grain would be required. It is very difficult to adjust a combine for multiple different grain types 🤷♂️. Also, it is very hard to pick up a swathe with a rigid head…
At that height, the rigid has a chance. Still, even feeding will challenge. You would set the screens and cylinder for the largest grain, and wind up not threshing all the small grain 🤔
The residue that is left is really low value, but I guess you could bale it. By the time that seed has been made, the plant is essentially dead, except for new shoots!
Wow, the seed is really rolling into the hopper. Thanks for sharing Jack, I could watch that old 72 run all day!
I'll start looking for one for you, it's be nice for combining rye.
Thanks Brad. If you have a 72, you will be running all day :) All jokes aside, they are really nice for legumes and dry beans!
Good day fellows Yea I thought too grass seed was coming out a fairly good clip; Thanks
Glad you're getting the clover out. If I remember correctly the All-Crop 66 I used to own had 72 grease zerks.
Seems like more! Thanks Pete :)
Pretty neat seeing a 72 running like a champ.
With a little attention, and knowing the tricks, they are remarkably reliable for their vintage! Thanks for watching.

Thanks Aaric, hope your harvest continues to go well. I will have some purple seed corn for you :)
@@GeigerFarm Thank you that will be awesome ! Would you like some Truckers favorite corn or Asian Yard Long beans seeds ?
@@AaricHale Thanks Aaric 🙏🏼, but we have our own locally adapted corn and beans 🙂. We like to use our sweet corn for cornbread 😋👍🏻
Thanks for sharing, enjoyed watching the harvesting!
Thanks Scott!

Wow, that's a lot of clover seeds you got 👍
It was an above average harvest, especially considering the conditions!
Beautiful old combine 🙂
Thanks Dan. I like your spreader🙂👍🏻
Ciekawy film super że TH-cam dodał opcję tłumaczenia :-D
Czy to się odpowiednio przetłumaczyło? Z niecierpliwością czekam na Wasze filmy :) Dzięki za oglądanie i wsparcie!

Thank you for your help. Very informative video!
Cool to see that combine in action 👍
Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thanks 🙂

We started on a 66 as well. The shift to a 72 was monumental ;). It amazed me as well that some parts are still available!

Dad hates when I run it pto. He has a tractor with ground speed PTO🙂. As kids we always had to use ground speed!
:) alwys love the money shot
Ditto!
We used to combine our clover direct cut with our 66 allis

Interesting to see the whole process looks like slow and tough going
Thanks! Good things take time, but are worth the effort. All small legume seed production is a struggle 🙂.
Seems to get it good and clean. Do you ever have issues with foxtail sneaking it’s way in along with the clover?
It gets cleaned out Andy👍🏻
Is there any other use for red clover seed on the market other than for plant again, nice video
It is also used for sprouting greens Jan!

Yes my friend. Such is life 🙂

They work excellent for direct cutting. We only use it for red clover. Our pick up attachment came from a salvage combine.
no pointers on doing mixed grains like i mentioned...
its about what screens to use with that mix
