Generally speaking, rock and more specifically, metal music, does not do the job of making truly dark music, for that you go to experimental electronics.
@@paolovallejo5500 As someone who has only stumbled upon various ambient sub genres in the last few years I have come to agree with you. There are some exceptions of course. Yet I have come to view most of the darker metal I like as the darkness of smoke during a tremendous fire. This stuff is the darkness of the abyss. Be it deep water, deep space, or the underworld, this is where I come for the 'truly dark' as you put it.
The noise from outside was the first thing I noticed; a deep, omnipresent thrumming, like someone was operating large machinery. After I got outside I saw that my dome had materialized within a large structure of some sort. Walking around I found that this structure held quite a few pieces of integrated machinery. Most of the places I went to were either cold and dry, or uncomfortably hot and moist. The people here seem dejected and confused whenever I talk to them. My traveling companions all split up around when we arrived, so I’ve been alone for the past week. Found raven-lady in one of the deeper parts of the structure today. She was looking through what looked like an accumulation of human bones and other garbage, with some rats or roaches or something of that nature scurrying about in it. Apparently, this collection has been growing for the past 10,000 years. Going by the continual pitter-patter of more things dropping into it, it’s still growing. I saw steam rising out of a pit a little ways away from where I found her. From what I could see, the pit goes down far enough that there’s no light in it past a certain point. There were turbines at the top-most layer, so I’m guessing that’s what’s powering this whole mess. I left, eventually finding a bit of the structure that had been damaged. Some sorta robot was there, repairing the walls and putting machinery back into place. I think this place might be alive.
