Prior to the rerouting of these Mon Valley coal trains, the Mountain Subdivision only saw the Q316/Q317 and maybe 2 coal trains daily between Grafton and Cumberland. Nowadays it likely sees 8-10 trains in a 24-hour period. Not sure if the rerouting of these Mon Valley coal trains will last as it's an arduous process getting them over the mountains. They run in 2x2 configuration and also have rear helpers between Grafton and Terra Alta.
@@csxno601 CSX saves to much money by sending these coal trains over the Mountain. We were told we will be hauling this coal for the foreseeable future. We now run 3 head end and 2 rear DP and 100 coal cars. Last night they did run the manned helper again for the first time in months because we are short on power. Mountain Sub has the B772, Q316/Q317, N999/N998, and the 200 coal car empties West and 100/80 loaded coal cars East, which double up in Keyser, WV, making them 200 car trains.
How much of an increase if you can quantify?
