Don't worry about bothering people by asking them on to the pod! Even if they can't or won't, I'm sure most would be honored to even be asked! If not, then they'll just say no. As a person who thinks of himself as being on the outskirts of the greater GeoGuessr community, I've really enjoyed listening to some of these episodes. I appreciate that you ask the "stupid questions". In my experience, the GeoGuessr fandom can be quite prone to inside baseball with how everything is scattered on Discord servers.
You're right! No harm in asking. Thank you for your very thoughtful comment, too. I will continue to ask the possibly obvious questions because I want it to be inclusive and also because most of the time I'm just genuinely curious. Thank you for listening!
Great video to watch and very insightful to hear Toro's perspective. You can always reach out to people tbh I think you'd be surprised at the amount of people who would do this in a heartbeat when asked.
I think it's an interesting point Toro makes about not being limited by the borders of a place, but I think there could be some interesting solutions to some of the concerns brought up in this ep and the ep with Feneb. 1. Smaller countries should have higher weight in terms of probability of coming up during multipliers such that you are more likely to get Russias on low multis and more likely to get Luxemborgs on high multis. Nothing worse than winning a whole game and then getting hit with a generic russia on multis. I don't think this is currently a feature but I think it would be really cool to add such a thing. I think you'd have to somewhat limit the weighting a bit because if its crazy weighting you'll have people. 2. I'm not sure if AI gen maps have ever done this but I think it'd be cool if we got past the defining things by borders issue by rating location similarities partly based on proximity and then partly, either on the basis of how humans guess it or how the bots guess it (ie places that people mix up more that are close together are more similar and thus more of its own region). From here, we could try to make sure that there is an even distribution of places such that there aren't too many of the same type of place. This way the balancing system could be more balanced.
I really love the podcast so far. Thank you for doing this! Maybe a dumb question but do you have a preference if I listen to them on TH-cam or Spotify? Like does one or the other help you more?

Appreciate it, Finley. Yes, Toro is very insightful. And I think I will reach out to a few people and see what happens.

Thank you!!! I appreciate the question; not dumb at all. I don't have a preference, though -- whichever works best for you!
