    It’s against the law to give a bad reference. All they do is verify employment, dates/titles, salary, and more.

      It’s a law in some states & even in those states negative information is still provided.

    Many companies nowadays are so arrogant. If you work for one of these toxic companies, not only should you not give them any notice, just quietly clean out your office over a couple weeks time, then just stop showing up. Don't even bother telling them that you left their employ. Let them figure it out. F* them!

    I was an instructor pilot for a mom-and-pop school. I gave three months' notice and even helped hire my replacement. Good people and deserved all the help I gave them... I also worked for a corporate school. No notice was given because there was ZERO reason to extend that favor...

    My company requires a 2-week notice if you are on their profit-sharing or bonus program. If employees give a 2-week notice, then the departing employee is still eligible to receive the bonus for time already worked no matter how "angry" the employer is at you.

    People don't grasp that giving notice is about protecting your professional reputation not for the benefit of the company.
    It's a small world and you shouldn't burn a bridge that you don't have to, at least not without a good reason.

    My dad just out of no where got me a job at a cement plant and I honestly hate it. They’re having me do shit they didn’t tell me I’d be doing before hand.
    I genuinely don’t wanna give a 2 weeks notice for this job I just wanna leave. But my dad’s saying if I just quit without it, it’ll go on my record and fuck up a chance at another job. Is that true?

    • @BobaDavis
      @BobaDavis 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I mean, you certainly won't be able to use them as a positive reference - if you don't need them, quit. But I don't know the specifics of your situation: is it simply the case that you don't like the job but you need to "man up" and deal? If you have another job lined up, go ahead - if you don't, wait until you have the next job to tell your current that you're done.

    If I quit a job that I worked for more than 10 years but I quit without leaving a 2 week notice but instead called my supervisor to inform them I quit and they said alright can I possibly get my old job back 5 years later since its an At-Will employment state? Would I be eligible for a re-hire oir not since that may depend on the company.
