I can’t just can’t throw away perfectly good plant.
Do you want a trophy? Here ya go 🏆
Your justification for throwing away the plant was convincing!
I cant believe i have been watching you for so long. I remember when you wanted to get on here fulltime and quit the job you were at the time. Then when you got prego the first time then the second. I keep waiting for number three lol. As long as your here, i will be here watching. 🥰
@@katiewilliams9273 aw thank you for sticking with me all these years 🥰 that’s so crazy! Idk why I just assumed all my viewers from back then had moved on 🥹🫶
I'm also from that era) @@HarliG
Same here !!🙋🏻♀️
Same :) the only plant youtuber I still watch!
I've been around since 2018
yall know how people watch CleanTok or organization videos?? I feel like Harlis repot/prop videos are top tier versions of that!!! Theyre total comfort and inspiration videos for me
Enjoyed the video, I personally love plant chores videos so never get bored of them. I like to do my own plant chores whilst I watch/listen. Glad your plant care is feeling more chilled 👍
Me too!
Hi Harli! I'm not at all saying plants should not be thrown away, but I do know how much you've enjoyed your Kangaroo fern. While ferns can be finicky pains-in-the-behind, their rhizomatic root systems are pretty hardy. Only very mature ferns/fronds produce spores. If in the future you have a fern you love but are hating/reacting to the spores, you may want to try cutting the entire plant back. This should kind of restart the plant at a less mature stage so that you don't have to worry about the spores again (for a while).
That’s really good to know! Maybe another will pop up again in another plant & I can grow it up really big again. I loved seeing this one grow
Good morning Harli😀 please keep up those plant care video's. I really appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you for all you show us. P.S. you make smile and laugh as well love to see how excited you get when you get new plants. Hugs
My kid is starting preschool this fall and my two year old won’t be far behind. Having two boys and everything that you do, it exhausts me to watch it but it also shows me how much I can do with two kids near the same age. Girl, your mental health is more important than a plant. Social media needs to realize how to shut up. Keep rockin girl. Keep tossing those plants if you need!!

It's so wild to hear you say "Kai is going to be 5 soon" as it makes me realize how long i've been around! At one point, Kai wasnt even a thought and it's been so amazing to watch you grow over the years into the person you are! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride ❤🌿💚
I looooove the sound of you sliding pots and setting them down😂 it’s so satisfying
I’ll be interested in watching the progress of your philodendron chop and prop. I’m starting to have second thoughts about growing houseplant cuttings. Maybe it is just me, but it seems to take a long, long time to see results.
When we throw green matter and compostable into the regular trash and it ends up in landfills it actually produces more CO2! It also doesn't fully break down in that environment🙂

More plant care vids…can’t get enough!
Helllll yeah......liberation ✅️🙌🔥🍀 My collection is maybe a 1/4 of what it once was😅
This comment says it perfectly!! Lol
I’ve seen people in my local plant group just put plants on the curb and say free so it has a chance for a second home while being out of yours.
I’d love to see how you pick your plants to post on your shop and how you decide how often you want to sell plants or do a “drop”.
@@nicolepro927 I put plants out like that sometimes too! We are in a heat wave 105 degree days so the plants wouldn’t last very long outside right now 😭
Love your videos
I would LOVE to see more outdoor content! Like turning part of your backyard to a pollinator garden!
I just counted my plants and I’m down to 60 plants and it feels wonderful. Most have died for one reason or another. Mostly lack of water. The rest are hardy, at this point. Sometimes I just don’t want to water, so I wait for 4-5 days. I’m getting better. When I’m more consistent I want some more Hoyas or ficus. There’s still a few ficus I don’t have yet. One day it’s going to be a jungle in a good way.
I’m SO happy you brought up how downsizing has resulted in less maintenance! I also downsized around the same time you did, and I’ve been wondering why I haven’t had many plant chores lately lol duh less plants=less maintenance 🤦🏾♀️ it also helped that the plants I got rid of were generally the plants that required the most maintenance and caused the most stress lol
I can't believe Cai is going to be 5 soon. I'm telling you Harli, it goes by quick. Don't blink. I love your content, whether it's plants or just a chatty video. Thank you 🧡🌿
I just enjoy your company😊
Absolutely NOT sick of plant care vids, I love repotting
I only feel a teeny bit bad chucking plants out into my compost. If it’s not doing well enough to regift, it goes in the compost
One of my least favorite plant chores is repotting, but watching your videos makes me feel like it’s not that bad. I need to just do it! 😅
Hi we would love to have you at PlantCon 2025 in Dallas! It would be an amazing opportunity to get to see you there!
I love your plant care vlogs!
You are absolutely adorable!
I love these chill plant chore videos, I always find myself going to water my plants and i’ll end up switching the pot pairings and moving my whole collection around lol ❤️
The shelf looks great, sometimes plants have to go😢
The years are going very fast !
💚🌵🍀🌿💚
I really need to downsize. I’m overwhelmed.
I need to learn to toss it!
Thanks you’re an inspiration.
thanks for another video!! my favorite videos of yours was when you styled your sisters house for her apartment and your moms plant tour. would love an update of how their plants are doing!! i also love your thrift planty vlogs!! i love seeing what types of pottery people thrift.
🦋🦋🦋 We want to see you at Dallas, Texas Plantcon 2025! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏Pretty please!
I like when you do plant chore videos! It reminds me to do my own. And I learn a lot from your videos, always have, and anything you post I watch, so thank you!
I really love what you mentioned about green waste in the landfills. I feel the same. 🌱
Never going to grow bored of these videos, they are the best Harli content! 💞
☕️ Great way to start my Sunday Morning!! Gorgeous and thriving plant shelves. Love your content. 🪴☕️🪴❤️
I always enjoy your plant chore videos! I saved this to watch while I do my own plant chores! 😊
As you accumulate empty terra cotta pots of different sizes and shapes they can become attractive decor stacked and arranged amongst your plants inside or on your patio.
I never knew those spores opened up and dropped pollen! I learn something every day!
Mesh is a great way to cover drainage holes that are too big. I love variegated Sanservia’s.
Love the plant chores, motivates me to get mine done. Ty

Great vid! Whatever content you feel like creating will be good. Thanks for sharing Harli!
I tossed 3 little four-inch plants in the trash last week and feel like a new woman! I felt bad about throwing them out, but so liberated after. 😂 Two were cuttings that I was fighting to save for months, and one was a bunny ear cactus that was just plain mean. 😆

I would love to throw some plants away but my daughter is always watching and ahe would just pull them right back out of the trash . Just the onea that are half dead already. Thanks for sharing. Love watching you and your mama
Could you tell me the name of her moms channel? Thanks

I would love to see a video on what would be a great vacation to your area. I love to see the hiking and camping but a little more in depth would be awesome! I'm from Iowa and your area has always been on my bucket list
What happened to the group to you took polls on-still in the works?
Love for content!
Hey Harli!!! I love your plant care videos have a great weekend ❤
Do you have a compost pile? Though the the fern could've gone there or just directly in the bush somewhere, closer to the Mother Nature))))
@@darya5293 I’ll start one idk why I never thought about it
I like watching your channel you always make me smile. I had asked before. The WHITE SHELVE behind you. I can't seem to find a simple white shelve just like that. I need to span a long wall and like the clean look. Or if you have come across shelves that you have found that you liked, would you mind adding them to a list. I've been through your Amazon lists. I can't seem to find anything, the one behind you would be perfect because I could buy multiple to span a long wall. Thanks
also would love to know how you manage to prop things in those moss containers without everything rotting. i feel like my prop boxes end up in rot :( do you not spray it?? thanks!
Hey! I think it really comes down to getting the amount of moisture right. I occasionally open the lids of my bins to help release extra moisture if it seems too wet
Enjoyed this video, as watching you complete your plant chores motivates me to tackle mine. I'm just curious as to why you moved plants out of your bedroom? I'm looking at ways to add plants to mine, so want to make sure I'm not making a mistake myself.😴
Great video. And, my unsolicited 2 cents... we throw away perfectly good stuff every day as humans. Let's not get upset over a plant being tossed. Also, you only know what was being said to us. Maybe Harli has other reasons to get rid of the plant. And, people dont always want the plant, free or not. Should she just keep it? I wouldn't.
In a world where we talk about and praise people on taking care of their mental health, we sure like to forget that and we throw darts of guilt over a plant.
And I also dont think she is creating rage content for more views or comments. Comments dont pay YTubers, anyway.
Do you have a link to your shop?
Hi Harli, I have gone down the rabbit hole and have been binge watching her channel. Thanks for mentioning she had a channel. Haven't been watching anything but her channel lately. I'm really enjoying . Thanks so much. Have a Quick question, if yoou feel I am being to nosy just say or what ever. But is Rich her 1st husband or second? Thank you from Alberta. Canada.
Have you ever tried Fluval Stratum for props?
Don’t blame it at one plant. Most plants have pollen. And you can develop allergies or new allergies at any time. That’s my piece of nursing advice.
This. People get so excited when their Hoya or maranta bloom and then don’t make the connection with the allergies they experience
Thanks!
@@user-ke9bp5vm3m oh wow! Thank you so much that is really kind of you 🥰
💚💚💚
If you would have sold your plant that you threw away i would have come over and bought it since i live in the same state as you.
I think she’s just creating Rage 😡 😤 content for her channel, as that’s just make us comment more.
@@dianeallen9466 going through a big loss in the family right now & it has been difficult to do even small tasks. I do my best to sell or gift or swap plants
@@zingara76 if this causes you rage I don’t even know what to tell ya
💚🌱💚🌱💚
Should have sold that plant😔
There is no reason for you to justify throwing a plant away. I feel if a plant doesn't make you happy or is on its way out or causes allergies, it's your choice to do what you want to do with it. It's your house, you paid for the plant. Whether you decided to throw away, give away, it's your choice. Anyways, I have been following you for some time and probably have never left a comment, but you are a fantastic person and I enjoy your vids.
Thank you for saying this ❤
Just curious, the first plant, why did you plant it in spaghnum and not soil? Acclimate reasons or do you just grow it forever in spaghnum? 🤔
@@kissaneitinen it’s easier to root in moss & very easy to transfer to soil once it is rooted 😊
Yeyyyyyy!!!
I have these mesh round pieces I get from Amazon. I have them in two and four inch pieces. The four inch fit perfectly in a six pot. The two inch fit perfectly I. A four inch pot as they are all tapered. The pots I have are tapered so the bottom so they are not true four or six inch at the bottom
@@lisaanglim9588 oh smart! Gonna look into them thanks!
@@HarliG glad to help
You have a huge yard PLEASE start composting if you don’t already. Organic material is really not okay to mix with landfill trash. In most of the EU it’s illegal and countries get fined for not separating it, actually. Decomposing organic matter is wet, that wetness mixing with other broken and decaying materials produces chemical contaminated runoff that damages the environment if not managed meticulously by the landfill. always compost your organics!
Harley, are you kinda leaning away from terra cotta as you repot?
@@MikeyDonna yes! They stay better watered outside of porous planters line terra cotta 😋
Ohhh MY 😳 I understand you have a saying in your channel with “it’s ok to 🗑️ 🪴” but ohh my, you could have make someone very happy with that plant if you had posted on Facebook free local group. Or at lease to a compost pile. I just can’t just put a healthy plant in a plastic trash bag. It was truly sad 😢
We already lost plant me Ashley, are we going to lose you too?

WOW! Why wouldn’t you make the effort to find someone who wanted the fern or sell it instead of just tossing a living thing in the trash, so irresponsible. Says a lot about your character, sorry
@@jannamozdzer4100 okay! I really truly hope that if you ever get to a point in your life where you’re stressed, sad &/or overwhelmed you’ll think back to my video & feel that it’s okay to toss a plant to better your mental health.
Do you have many friends Janna?
Kangaroo ferns aren’t expensive, they’re not rare, they’re not endangered, and as for being a living thing, an insect like a bee has more sentience than a plant, and im sure you’ve killed a few insects in your life time but no one is judging you for it. All she did was throw away a plant that was potentially giving her allergies, you’re making it seem like she threw away a baby kitten
Says waaaay more about your character to judge and condemn a human for throwing away a plant, than it says about Harli’s choice to throw out a plant. Stay in your lane.
Sometimes, as a busy mum, the last thing you want to deal with is taking photos of a plant, listing it on marketplace with a write up and then dealing with all the time wasters who stuff you around, constantly message is this still available etc.
It's more trouble than it's worth and that effort is better spent on your family and life... Not all of us have the mental capacity to give that space to others just because we might be able to find a plant a new home.
So much bigger things in life to worry about, gees.
