    What is the Center-to-Center pin spacing on the Mic (2.5mm) & Speaker (3.5mm) connectors? Currently use my 2-pin HB-6A Bluetooth Adapter on my current CB radio; different brand Radio. Provides me Bluetooth connectivity between my Radio and my SENA 20S EVO Bluetooth Headset. The Radio wireless PTT is via a HB-6B Remote PTT (Key) Bluetooth device.

    If I’m just using this for fun a couple times a year on vacation trips on the interstate, do I need an external antenna on my pickup or can I get away with the included rubber duck antenna included

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would use a external antenna on the truck, you will get much more range in both Transmit and receive. Without ext ant you will get 1/4mile or so, with ext ant you can get anywhere from 1/2 mile to 3 miles. I use a President Iowa antenna and the mag mount in our CRV.
      BTW... I never go on a road trip without my CB Radio, has saved my rump a few times.

    Are you supposed to adjust the SWR on the radio before you use??

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is wise to check the SWRs before use . I sold my customers this one, amzn.to/3DJseso (15.00 each back in the day) always have a cheap SWR meter on hand to check their antennas if they ever thought they had a problem. It is cheap insurance..

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that is correct, However if you use a external antenna such as a mobile cb antenna then yes use a meter to check. But a stock rubber duck and/or aftermarket antenna (that mounts on the radio) should be close enough.

    I don't believe it would a very good mobile radio. The manner in which the radio is connected to power at the bottom, and connecting to a mag mount antenna at the top would be cumbersome. They should have had an adaptor to the bottom that had both the power cord and antenna connection, like the Midland 75-822 does.

  • @abswa
    @abswa ปีที่แล้ว +2

    President dropped the ball with that antenna converter… the European version plugs the antenna into the mobile charger so both cables are plugged into the bottom of the radio. The US version you’ll have to plug in the antenna on the top of the radio and the mobile charger on the bottom… let’s call that stupid and awkward.

    • @breakerbroke23
      @breakerbroke23  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to understand this is a walkie talkie, as it comes out of the box it is meant for close range communications. A few blocks up to a mile or so. This radio puts out the legal RF power of a full sized mobile/base cb radio. However in order to keep it compact and portable the antenna is a small wire antenna coiled up so it can be compact.... that is a problem when it comes to range. In 27mhz AKA cb radio band the antenna should be 102" in length (extended) for maximum performance. Also, when in a vehicle you are basically in a metal cage (RF wise) and the cage will keep a signal from going out and will block signals from coming in. So for mobile communications further than a few blocks you will need to use a larger antenna outside of the vehicle AKA mobile antenna. Almost same for the home, you need a base antenna mounted outside and preferably on your roof for maximum range.
      I have a large antenna outside and have used the Randy to talk across the Salt Lake valley and when we get proper atmospheric conditions I have talked across the United States. Great comment and a video needs to be done on this subject. I'm on it.
      Cheers
