Great video, it's great to see what kind of elevator's you have across the pond in the US. Hydro elevators aren't really common here in the UK as far as I'm aware, we mostly have traction ones. What type do you prefer Traction or Hydro? Happy New Year, Hope this year is a much better one for us all 👌
Glad you enjoyed this tour! Hydraulics are very common over here, though we are starting to see more traction on newer installs. It really depends on the elevator for what I prefer. I really love old traction systems, but the old rotary rotaflow hydraulics are awesome as well.
@@stlelevators I've only ever Ridden three Hydraulic elevator's, a Dover Impulse at the hotel we stayed on our holidays to Orlando in 2010, 2015 and 2019, however in 2019, they'd been modded by Thyssenkrupp and had different fixtures, and 2 old glass Otis ones in my local town centre, 1 of which was when I was a kid/teenager and no longer exists, the other one is currently out of service, I'm assuming due to Covid. We also have some old Otis Traction elevators in the town centre too, they're quite fast and are still mostly original, the only mod they added was a separate COP panel that features voice to make them compliant with latest regulations, but all the original fixtures are still there and work, they'd have been installed in the late 80's before I was even born. Yeah I can understand what you mean about it depends on the elevator, I like elevators and love watching vids of them that enthusiasts like yourself make, even though I'm not an elevator enthusiast myself and don't know loads about them 👍 Otis elevators are my favourite👌 What elevator manufacturer is your favourite? 😁
Cool! I’m looking forward to this! Mind me asking, what about the Roanoke Station Garage with the Black Button Dover? Is it defunct? broken? Or ripped out?
That’s a darn shame. It really seemed like a nice elevator. Hopefully if ThyssenKrupp modernizes it, they can give you parts for it like what they did at Elmwood. If it happens though.
Not quite. Some old elevator filmers who filmed those garages before the modernization of those elevators knew that was going to happen. At least the Elmwood Garage kept the old US bell lanterns during the modernization.
It's basically the same idea as an overhead traction, but instead of the motor being on the top, it is on the bottom floor off to the side. The roping is a bit different on them as well.
That is unfortunate that the Roanoke station (carpark) garage elevator is now defunct. I have heard that the condition and security of the entire garage is poor.
Elmwood doesn't how to do this because what is not going to do anything because it will be the elevator will be destroyed and the whole garage with be destroyed the park car lots not rest of the parking lot every

10:14 It’s very hard to keep those impulse HIGHdraulics full of oil because the packing seals and power units tend to leak. The fact that a parking deck is able to keep it not low on oil most of the time is kind of an accomplishment because every other Dover HIGHdraulic elevator I’ve ridden was a varying degree of low on oil

I did find an elevator at an Omaha college campus parking garage that’s related to 2 of the elevators featured here.
ThyssenKrupp modernized the elevators at the Church Avenue and Elmwood Parking Garages as an excuse so more people can embrace the grocery beep.
Not quite. Some old elevator filmers who filmed those garages before the modernization of those elevators knew that was going to happen. At least the Elmwood Garage kept the old US bell lanterns during the modernization.
The part where he rode the elevator was crazy
Yes it was!
I love the brow of the US ELEVATOR
I would like to know the music you use at the beginning of the video.
23:51 ahh the classic Dover button
In the Church Ave. Garage, why does one bank go up A-B and the other B-A?
It's the way the garage is laid out. One side is higher up than the other relative to the other bank of elevators.
What about the Roanoke station / The Car Park?
It’s not owned by the city and it’s dead
Earth
9:13 I heard an up arrow playing twice
At 38:15, this could have added an outside floor indicator.
Btw Jason you should go to the powerhouse and film that fright elevator the powerhouse looks like a playground slide right Jason
They have high-pressure sodium lights in that garage.
I missed out all the parking garage elevators except for margret garage

Has the Montgomery at the church ave been modded to a TK?

Is the Elmwood TK hitting the pickup rollers or something?
Sounds like something with the roller
@@stlelevators didn’t do that when it was a US
The U.S. was the city’s most reliable elevator. The TK mod made it the least reliable.😢
Where in Roanoke is the Market Square walkway? Update: I found it.
Which video is better this one or Andrew’s with the steps
The first elevator of the market parking garage latern chime is burned out or silenced
The Elmwood Parking garage elevator sounds like a train going up.
A little bit
That's how it is during snow.
What’s happening to the escalators at the walkway? I heard they are getting ripped out.
They’re gone
@@stlelevators what's replacing them?
The walkway has a Schindler 300A from the 90s to 00s
Nice elevator
Which one?
Do you think that Dover elevator in the 3rd garage will be modernized
Maybe someday.
How do bottom drive traction elevators work?
It's basically the same idea as an overhead traction, but instead of the motor being on the top, it is on the bottom floor off to the side. The roping is a bit different on them as well.
Why does Elmwood garage elevators motor so bumby?
What kind of fixtures are in the Tower Garage?
Epco
The Market parking garage has 2 Dover elevators.
Wonder why the chimes on most of these are no longer working
Andrew rode this elevator 🛗 with mac.
I've seen several conflicts saying the Center in the Square garage's elevator is from 1981 or 1982, which year is it from?
Could have started in 81 and finished in 82. Seeing what the data plate says would confirm.
The car park Is now called the Roanoke station garage. Isn't that one privately owned?
Yep.
