Appreciate the video! I honestly am starting to move away from in person markets and target more online shopping due to time savings, but finding a good deal feels so good :) Cheers and rock on!

Shame I couldn't make it but events of the days previous meant I gave this one a miss sadly. You make some interesting points, but I find the best way to approach it is to be prepared to pay what you think is the right price. The one Birmingham market I went to I spent £4 all day. If I think its a fair price I'll buy it, if not I will jog on and find it another way 😊 Just out of interest what will your electricity usage be for the 80 hours of gameplay on that PS game 😉 Only teasing mate, glad you all had a good day out and look forward to seeing you all again soon 😊👍🐻

Sorry for your loss mate, totally understandable. Definitely agree on that, just have to be in less of a rush to buy stuff haha. It'd cost less than a holiday with a wife and child I'll tell you ahaha! Look forward to catching up with you and Claire next Sunday buddy.

Glad you had a good time, the prices are always up and down at these events.
You have to know your prices and walk away from over priced stuff.
I agree about your comments about not many rarer items though, there was a huge amount of shelf fillers unfortunately.

Good to see you Dale, re the pricing its always been that way mate, you vote with your wallet.
That family was at birmingham also and yes very poor to "seal" the games in those crap plastic bags but again you vote with your wallet and just dont buy from them mate.

I'd just love to get down to one of the markets at some point. The Midlands is really the Mecca of UK video games 😎👍

Great account Dale. If a stall doesn’t let you open the bag protectors that is a massive red flag for me. They expect you to trust them on the game being in good condition and complete - come on!
Also there is no warranty with buying at markets (unless bought from tubers we know) unlike eBay - if it doesn’t work you have rights, but at markets - it’s sold as seen and so the baggy store is definitely dodgy. I rather pay a bit extra and have that protection which we also have from physical stores like CEX.
For me I would only go to markets for the social side and I’m glad you were able to have a good chat with other tubers.

Thanks Nick, yeah.. ikr! Yeah social side is definitely the best bit. Cheers for watching buddy!

Was really nice to meet you too mate 😁 glad you and the family had a nice day out there.
You are right about the prices to a degree but. Stall prices tobsell gone up 50% since last time I heard. I also think it's kinda like boot sales. You have to gauge the seller and usually the flashiest stalls push the prices. You get to know after going a few times the good ones.
Yeah I found that family selling games in dodgy bags. I bought a game and opened and it was scratched and case broken so I asked for my money back and got it but it really annoyed me and only because I was cautious I didn't get caught out as I have before.
One game I got there I found for twice price cex sealed. £5 more than cex on another stall and then bought at £5 under cex. Last hour was good as calmed a lot. You really have to dig for the good stuff and not rush in but then you have fomo, need to know your prices well as you clearly do. I generally stick to the stalls of tubers I know and Craig, Eddie, Dana, Tooty and Japanese Alan do deals. Is always worth trying a haggle though.

Good to meet you mate! Ah that's good info to know, yeah totally get that way of navigating the market, next time I'll know what to focus on! Cheers for watching buddy

Hey Dale, good review. Wow the over pricing is silly, especially when there’s an average price of a game easily available to research. I’ve not been to this market as it’s so far, but London gamers Market I always find reasonable priced considering it’s location. Great that you met loads of other tubers, the social aspect is always the best 👍

Great to see you again on the day Dale, think you summed it up well
It was certainly busy. I just bought from the sellers I knew and their prices were great as usual. I guess it's paramount to know the going rates of stuff you are interested in for stalls you don't know
I have seen that stall with the bags you mentioned a couple of times now, don't get a good vibe from it myself
Looking forward to the next Donny, think the venue is great 👍✌️

Likewise James, definitely learning more each time I go to a market! Glad it wasn't just me getting bad vibes from a couple of stalls. Venue is awesome isn't it, definitely be going again. Cheers for watching as always mate!

Nice to hear you enjoyed your day.
As Nath says it's now quite expensive to have stalls at the markets so there are overheads that customers perhaps don't take into account and being early Feb I only took a couple of stalls, would have liked more but didn't want to incase of bad weather therfore wasting more money, adding in rent plus what I gave someone for helping it's enough, with my petrol but allowing nothing for the hours I spend pricing my x's were about 330, people like myself are happy to do all sorts of deals, people not allowing you to inspect is ridiculous imho, just avoid is all I can say, last thing can be a good time to grab deals and also if the events quiet which is never a thing with Doncaster, it's always busy but this time more so than ever.
As for rare items that's purely down to the individual tastes, you were unlucky which is a shame, I always used found the same as you and would have an mental list when attending the events, normally I'd never find those but return with countless other things lol that can be another problems, getting swept away by the buzz and buy things for the sake of it.
Hopefully the next event won't be too far away 👍

    • @DaleyRetro
      @DaleyRetro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

That's more than I initially thought tbh! Hope you took enough for the effort you put in mate. Agree on the rarer items point. Thanks for watching!

@@DaleyRetro Thanks, yes, thankfully it was super busy and the costs ended up a tiny percentage of the days take, shed loads of higher end stuff sold, I've a couple of follow on orders people are collecting as a result of the event too plus there's no ebay hassle, I'm the exact opposite of the seller who didn't let people look at things, I like people to closely inspect and then decide where to go.
Thanks for showing my stall on your video btw 👍
