If you want to avoid the queues you may apply for a sticker visa as well. The service is not yet stopped though Thailand continues with the visa exemption policy. For the sticker visa you will have to pay approx 3k per applicant visa VFS Thailand. I would still advise that you go with the visa exemption at the airport.

If you are visiting for the first time, You may take packages but the packages are time-bound. Please cross check that you don't have to incur additional expenses and quality of hotels. Packages will be good in this case since you are traveling for the first time & there is a language issues. This is because you must be traveling with family. Otherwise, Packages are not required one can plan comfortably.
If it is your first international trip and that too if you are going on Honeymoon you should book a package otherwise it’s easy to travel within Thailand and we don’t book packages anymore.
