I learnt about a sect who read the Quran, with emphasis on contextual interpretation, with ingredients of the audience being addressed and background historical information. I was surprised such thing exist with them. And I was happy that made it easier to relate basic Biblical interpretation and understanding. Just as the Acadip lecturer said, you wouldn't understand the message of Mohammed until you have started following him by converting to Islam. Same way it is, you will never understand the words of Christ and the scriptures until you have started following. Jesus hasn't come to create any religion in that sense, people made religion, people called Christianity a religion just like the Christians have been named Christians by people and hence their religion is Christianity. Jesus isn't calling people into religion, rather He's calling people out into a life. It's just a debate anyways, kudos to both sides for trying to convince and clarifying things on both sides.
Same way the Bible is called "Bible". Bible is just a normal English word- just book. What you will see in the Bible is scriptures. This is what we talk about.

The old testament was written in Hebrew and Aramaic, while the new testament was written in Greek. It was only translated later to English and that is whybwe have many translations today even as also the Quran. Muslim literally means "submitter" i.e. someone who submits the oneness and divine order of the creator. So, when we say they were Muslims, we mean they completely believed and surrendered to the original message of the oneness of God and God's divine stipulations. So yes, Jesus was a Muslim too!
