I remember the songs I used to sing in church as a young boy, have carried them with me for 62 years. Southern gospel and holiness preaching have kept me close to Him! Crack addiction to it's unholy depths and Christ delivered me! Praise him forever!
I grew up listening to music like this and i used to hate it but my daddy sang his heart to gold city i have so much more respect for gospel music now. God is so beauitful and pure and this song is so beauitful. I miss my daddy singing it.
March 20 2023 i just prayed for more grace and peace. I love Jesus and he provides grace to all that follow him .please pray for more grace for me and peace of mind
Many yrs. have com & gone since this song was first recorded, but it has never lost its power & truth in it, There Is One Scarred Hand, & our Jesus’ hand, STILL MENDS BROKEN HEARTS with one scarred hand! I love this song, the message, will carry us through anytime, we just can’t stand, we have the great physicians touch, with “ One Scarred Hand”. Thank you Lord! This song will forever bless & comfort my heart through life’s trials & journey serving our Great God!
thank you! if you only knew what this song means to me. about 2 1/2 months ago my 8 year old son dylan was burned in a freak accident. i was cleaning the church listening to a friends I-Pod and it came on. i went and bought the cd and listen to it every day. the doctors said dylan would have to have 4 skin grafts but let me tell you when we took him back to georgia for surgery the took off his bandages and the doctors asked did we believe in miracles. GOD HEALED MY BOY!!! WITH THAT SCARRED HAND.
This song has so Blessed my Broken Heart 💔 From the recent passing of my Beloved Husband 😢😢 Wept before my Father in Heaven,I felt his hand touching my Broken Heart, holding me very close to his Heart ❤️ Praise God 🙂
One Scarred Hand was written in the lobby of Denver Lodge in Taos, New Mexico on the second Sundays of Advent in 1992. It was written by Ivan Parker, Shawn Obrien and I. I had just been diagnosed with both Hodgkins and non-Hodgkins lymphoma. John Denver had AIDS which he got from a blood transfusion. We needed help dealing with terminal illness issues.
Times have changed so very much. I remember listening to groups like Gold City, The Kingsmen, The Cathedrals, The Hinsons, The Singing Americans, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Happy Goodman Family, and The Hemphills as just a kid. I am now 40 and a Music Pastor in full time ministry. This is truly one of the very best combinations of a quartet that we may ever hear. Thank God for archives of video that are available for us to enjoy of timeless songs and performances that are just as much a blessing today as they were when they were originally recorded!
Tony Eads Times have changed and times can change again. It begins with Music Pastors, Worship Leaders, Song Leaders, and other titles that handle Music. Our Churches have become an Entertainment Industry with a Bible....some don't even teach directly from God's Word and only share experiences and advice. I've said all tgat to say this, I play Pedal Steel Guitar and would give anything to play with a Southern Gospel Group. All I've worked for and dreamed about is vanishing quickly. Change that occured can begin again with you and I. Stay Blessed Doc Carson
I appreciate you response. I am a Music Pastor and I prayerfully and purposely "blend" our selections. We honor the classics, and give respect to all styles. I love music that clearly uplifts, encourages, and testifies of God's greatness while giving Him Glory. no matter the style God must be at the center of the Music otherwise it is just "Noise". I pray that you find a group to play with there is a an audience that still loves and appreciates that genre! God bless you my friend.
Tony Eads , GOD must have a hand in this. I used to sing these songs seems like a very long time ago,. now I am practicing like crazy so I can bring these words to our youth at my church, as well as the new in Christ that have been delivered. PRAISE GOD we have a wonderful movememt in our very small church. The messages in these old songs are powerful and timeless.God bless us all
Praise and Worship is very important to all churches. The Holy Spirit can move greatly in a church that has a great Worship Leader, and even a choir, that is prayed up and ready to truly worship God. However, those types of services can also happen when you have a singing group that is truly singing for the Lord, I have been in many of God City’s singing where the Spirit moved and lives were touched. Through Gospel Music, people who won’t go to church, can hear the message of God’s Word that can stir something in them to make them want to know more. That longing can get them into church, or can also lead to them going and talking to the pastor one of the singers and they can stress the importance of finding a good church that can meet their needs. Never discount the power of the God inspired words through Gospel music and how it can change lives.
Hi, I really do Love this song. It really does help me. When I am sad. This song has helped me a whole lot too. I Love all of y'all's singing. Keep Singing for the Lord too. 🙏
Danny Varnon and Jeff Thompson sang this at Bethel Baptist after my husband passed years ago. It really touched me deeply to hear these beautiful words. Thankful 🙏
Saw these guys along with the classic Cathedrals lineup back around 1988. Best southern gospel singing ever. Both groups had God's Holy Spirit filling the entire auditorium!
Probably. And that covers some serious territory. Musically there are some I get into a little more. Lyrically, though, what a message..not just a repackaging of ideas that are in a hundred other songs.
With or without music these guys were all great! They could equal any Barber Shop Quartet and they do not use music at all. Some of these comments are ridiculous. They are without a doubt the GREATEST GOSPEL QUARTET EVER!!!
Truly a God anointed & put together by God.There has NEVER been a singing Group EVER that has had harmony as tight ,Articulation & Diction with the Vocals this group had.The music arrangement the Sound reinforcement system has NEVER been as Good.Even in the Sound Systems on the market today most made in China can't even come close to the Quality at that time. There are some good products on the market today But one must pay VERY CLOSE attention to the specs & even at that some are grossly exaggerated.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Don't wait until it's too late. It's up to you to accept His gift.
Amen, it's Truly a Blessing to allow GOD to hit Reset in our lives when HE desires to, especially when HE take us back, and even Unction us afresh all over again... Heavenly FATHER, "Thank YOU"" for the Back to the Basics experience in this Season of our lives in JESUS CHRIST's Name!!!
He is the fountain for a thirsty soul He is the healer and so much more When my heart is broken by this world's demands The pieces are mended through one scarred hand Chorus And when I can't stand, I have to lean And when I can't see, I must believe The Great Physician's touch is a balm that can Mend broken hearts with one scarred hand It's a hand that holds this whole world in place It's a hand that was scarred just to give me grace And to think a hand that holds the stars Is small enough to mend one broken heart Chorus The Great Physician's touch is a balm that can Mend broken hearts with one scarred hand
Can you please pray for my sister Janie Rodriguez she gots the covid she can't open her eyes and can't talk she needs a healing now today and if you can give her name to a pastor a friend or a church
this song went #1 on the Singing News Charts your printed voice for Southern Gospel Music in 1991, from the Album "Windows Of Home" featuring Lead Singer Ivan Parker, Brian Free, Time Riley, Eva Mae Lefvre's ( Lefevre Family) grandson Mike Lefevre, Gary Jones (Piano) the late Doug Riley (Drums) Tim Rileys son, and Mark Fain on the Bass Guiltar. Gold City was known for being more of a Inspirational Southern Gospel Group than Traditional Southern Style Gospel, their music was a unique style.
I love this song..but think the Gospelaires sing it best......Mostly, I love the knowledge that God has a balm for the brokenness of my heart and that Jesus' scarred hands applies it to me.....

When I can't stand I have to lean and when I can't see I must believe on You Jesus. How appropriate are these words. I certainly enjoy this rendition.
Gold City came to our church a month after September 11, 2001 ... and sang this song a capella .... Everyone was in tears... I will never forget it.

Probably. And that covers some serious territory. Musically there are some I get into a little more. Lyrically, though, what a message..not just a repackaging of ideas that are in a hundred other songs.
The entire album is the best Southern Gospel album ever recorded
With or without music these guys were all great! They could equal any Barber Shop Quartet and they do not use music at all. Some of these comments are ridiculous. They are without a doubt the GREATEST GOSPEL QUARTET EVER!!!

WOW! LOVE THIS! One of my favorite Souther Gospel groups.
May the Lord Jesus Christ be praised! Blessed be His Name!
Tim Riley was at the top of his game back then laying down the bass line. Too bad he retired. He's still my favorite bass gospel singer of all time.
Tim is the man! Nobody will ever carry that awesome tone while knocking the bottom out of a note like nobodys business:)

Praise God.. An awesome song..
He is the fountain for a thirsty soul
He is the healer and so much more
When my heart is broken by this world's demands
The pieces are mended through one scarred hand
Chorus
And when I can't stand, I have to lean
And when I can't see, I must believe
The Great Physician's touch is a balm that can
Mend broken hearts with one scarred hand
It's a hand that holds this whole world in place
It's a hand that was scarred just to give me grace
And to think a hand that holds the stars
Is small enough to mend one broken heart
Chorus
The Great Physician's touch is a balm that can
Mend broken hearts with one scarred hand
Praise The Lord!!

Lyrics Please!.... Can any one advise where to find the lyrics... Thanks

Does anyone know who wrote the lyrics, and possibly the date/year it was written?
It was written by Kyla Rowland in 1990. Gold City took it to number one in 1992.
I love this song..but think the Gospelaires sing it best......Mostly, I love the knowledge that God has a balm for the brokenness of my heart and that Jesus' scarred hands applies it to me.....
Who is the baritone singer?
The baritone is Mike LeFevre. He is a nephew of Alphus and Urias LeFevre. He now leads his own group, The LeFevre Quartet.
This song, like almost all Southern Gospel would be 100% better a cappella or with only the piano. The bass and drums smother Tims wonderful voice.
