Essential lesson about Separable Dutch Verbs

- Separable verbs are a very distinct element of the Dutch language. Learning this can be a challenge to non-natives, because it is unknown in most other languages (including English). However, it is CRUCIAL to learn this if you are serious about developing your Dutch speaking skills.

Hoi. Ik heb een vraag - Are schoonmaken or klaarmaken separable verbs?
Hi Harry, goede vraag! Het antwoord is JA, beide zijn ‘separable verbs’.
Ik ga de badkamer schoonmaken. -> Ik maak de badkamer schoon met een natte doek.
Ik ga me klaarmaken voor vertrek -> Ik maak me nu klaar voor vertrek.

Is “aan” also a separable prefix
It is in some cases, but not all. As long as the emphasis is on 'aan', then is it separable. Like in 'aankijken'. Why are you looking at me like that = waarom kijk je mij zo aan. But it's not separable with e.g. 'aanschouwen' (to behold).
Ik ga mijn hond uitlaten
Elke dag op 7 uur laten ik mijn hond uit
