    🇸🇪 Hello Deen and Alette , first , I wanna thank you for giving all these precisions, so precious for hikers. Excuse me if you have said it on the video already, but I wonder how many kilos each of your backpacks weighed when they were full.

    Hey guys! I love the video 😍 I'm searching for information about food. What type of food did you use on a trail? Some fast cook meals with just hot water? What is a weight of dry food per day or a total weight that you had to add on top of that mentioned in the list?
    I was checking your packing list and see no info about food products. As I guess weight of 13kg per each backpack was then without any food supplies?
    Have a great day!

      Hi! Thank you for your compliments! Sorry for the delayed answer, we are currently in Norway creating a new hiking documentary.
      For dinner we mostly use freeze dried food from Real Turmat (the ones where you only put water in). That’s the only brand I (Alette) like haha. 🙈 One little bag weighs around 120 grams. Besides that I bring ‘normal’ food like bars, candy, coffee, wraps, oatmeal and tons of snickers. Stuff like that. Some people also bring freeze dried breakfast but I haven’t tried those.
      Those fast meals from real turmat are delicious, quick and full of calories.
      The weight we mentioned in this video (my backpack was 12kg if I remember correctly), was including food and water (and camera gear).
      A good thing to check for your trip is if along the trail they sell food. On the Kungsleden for instance, they sell freeze dried meals at lots of cabins along the way, so that way you could save some weight.
      Hope this helps!

    Interesting you both went for low shoes. I've done part of the Kungsleden, would definitely walk it only on mid to high mountain shoes, with goretex. You have to walk along of wet paths and occasionally cross a stream.
    Great video, slowly watching the whole Kungsleden trip, can't wait to do it myself!

    • @Hikaholics
      @Hikaholics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes we always go for low shoes. When it is wet we wear waterproof socks. The socks dry really fast and the light shoes dry really fast. For us it is the perfect combination. But always hike in shoes you prefer and are comfortable in :)
      Thank you for the nice comment! Are you planning to hike the Kungsleden?

    Great video! Thanks for all the helpful tips. I'm planning a hike on the Kungsleden and was wondering what the recommended comfort rating for a sleeping bag should be? Could you or anyone here advise on the ideal temperature rating for a sleeping bag to ensure comfort during the nights? Thanks in advance!

    • @Hikaholics
      @Hikaholics  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! It really depends on when you are going to hike the Kungsleden. September is a lot colder than july/august. We had a -13 and -8 degrees celsius sleeping bag and that was on the limit for us. But important note: Your sleeping pad is also really important for sleeping in colder temperatures. Our sleeping pad was a bit to cold during these -6 degrees celsius nights. Hope this helps a bit?

    So i will like to now if 2 season sleeping bag is
    Good for that trail.
    Extream 0°
    Comford 10°
    1450g
    Or is better to get a winter sleeping bag?🇸🇪

    • @Hikaholics
      @Hikaholics  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a great question! To be honest, I would suggest taking a winter sleeping bag with you. Even during the summer months temperatures can drop drastically during the night. In the beginning of September when we were there we had a -6 C nights. I know people who hiked the Kungsleden in summer and brought a 0 degrees comfort sleeping bag. Be prepared for every season in one day in Sweden!

    So I found you guys via the social media channels, and I was wondering: How did you guys train for this hike?

    • @Hikaholics
      @Hikaholics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Maarten! Welcome to the channel :) We hiked the Tour du Mont Blanc before this trail so that was basically our training. Before the TMB we lived in the mountains of Chamonix France so we had the option to train there. When we are not in the mountains we just pack our backpacks with 15kg and hike a a lot as training. Where are you from and do you have some spots where you can train there?

    • @MLunenborg
      @MLunenborg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hikaholics Hey guys! I haven't got any real mountains to train on, the highest elevation in the Netherlands is in the province of Limburg, near the borders of Belgium and Germany. But that's a three hour drive from my home in the Polder, the largest elevation I have are a couple bridges connecting 'Flevoland' with the rest of The Netherlands...

    • @Hikaholics
      @Hikaholics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha we know! We are from the Netherlands as well. Best to do long day hikes with a full loaded backpack (base-weight + food + water), that way you can get used to it. We didn’t find the Kungsleden challenging with stamina but more with back strength from carrying the backpack. We can recommend Kootwijkerzand for training (lots of sand dunes) and the dunes at Bergen and Schoorl. Hope this helps?
