    Doing a U sust. U = sqrt x. We have U^2 -U -6 = 0. (U-3)(U+2)=0. Then Sqrtx = 3 implies x = 9. but sqrtx = -2 don't exist!.

Hi, I am a 7th grader. All the maths textbooks such as by Blitzer, Spivak, and Stewart are sold at an atrocious price in my country. Their PDF(s), however, are available. Do you have any tips for me? I have no intentions of joining maths as an researcher/professor, insead I am focusing more on my physics. I would like to start learning physics as soon as I can. Should I instead go with Khan Academy or the series of textbooks followed in my country (NCERT's is the name of the series)?

This is a great question. Let me think about this and I’ll put a video together.

From my experience it can be good to use books from your own country if it's possible for you. I've learned a lot of math online with certain definitions that aren't applicable to the courses I'm now taking at university in my country. For instance the epsilon-delta definition of limits is formulated a bit differently in my country than it is in the rest of the world. Also, some things are different in other more superficial ways like notation, which isn't that bad but can be annoying sometimes.

@kallebanan1924 that’s a great point! That same definition could be notated differently from book to book too! Thanks for your input.

@@kallebanan1924 The problem with the books from my country is that they focus just too much on questions. I am not saying that practicing questions is a waste of time, it is important. However some of these books just completely ignore theory. Though, I agree with your take on definitions. I will surely take your advice in consideration.

Hidden quadratic so you could use quadratic formula and remove extraneous solutions
