You mentioned that you shouldn't buy something just because it's on sale, except if you were planning on buying it anyway... I will add though, in the long run, with normal groceries, toiletries, and household products, it is better to buy and stock up when it's on sale, even if you don't need it right now. Of course, barring things that will expire before you can use it, like milk. My grocery bill went down dramatically when I started using that mindset. I based my meal plan around what was on sale and if I got a large amount, like a big family pack of chicken, I'd make duplicates of meals and freeze it, for an easy dinner later (which also saved me from takeout spending overall).

I agree with you completely! My statement was more about clothes, stationery, random things. For household, if it won’t expire, buying on sale is a key component in my budget
