Cover is folded into 3, laid over ponies back and unfolded, then done up hind legs first (then if pony takes off the rug falls off behind). Then do up front chest, now cover is secure. Lastly belly straps and neckrug if necessary. This is how we're taught at PC in NZ where most ponies wear rugs all year round and live outside. Reverse procedure to take cover off. Eg, undo belly, neckrug, chest and lastly leg straps. Do up leg straps before removing rug. We never tie up belly straps. This method is based on safety.
