Personally I think this was a perfect example of raw talent. music video was simply but beautiful & Sinead takes it to an other level live.

Sinead O ‘Conner an Irish singer songwriter, (Nothing Compares To You) was a No 1 hit in 17 countries and Sinead received a Grammy for the song , The song was written by the famous artist Prince, Sinead legacy is she is the only artist to sing a song better than Princes version, Sinead refused to attended the Grammy Awards Ceremony or except the award as a protest, she criticised the music industry for promoting false and materialistic values rather than rewarding artists merit, great reaction thanks 🙏

And she cut all her hair off because they said how beautiful her hair was. Sinead had an identity crisis up until her last day. From good catholic girl to Rastafarian from Rastafarian to woman catholic priest ordained by a rouge gay bishop to Mohammed. Just as well she found Mohammed later in life because I don’t think Islam could tolerate a young sinead. She’s a true Irish woman, outspoken and as mad as a box of frogs.

Sinead lost her mom in a car accident a few years before the video. They'll never be another Sinead. May she rest in peace. Pure raw talent.

You're right, today's popular music is about image and a catchy hook, it's not about great vocals, musical artistry, and emotion. There are still some artists like Adele who still pour their heart and soul into their songs but not enough. Sinead left her bare soul on stage in the lyrics, vocal performance and emotion.

She wanted to be a priest on stage and she was, she literally channeled her songs. I have seen her live several times and her voice was from another dimension. Beautiful warrior woman. May she rest in peace. She’s so missed.

This is a truly great cover of a Prince song. I remember listening to Johnny Cash's version of Hurt (Nine Inch Nails), the writer Trent Reznor, he said that it was no longer his song. I wonder if Prince felt the same with Sinead "owning" this one. Lovely reaction.

@TashaJackson, for framing, this was one of my late sister's and my favourte songs back in the day. It was played at here funeral, because I could not bear to sing that day. Meanwhile, Prince wrote and arranged the original song, and the original video was done, her singing part, in one take. Look it up. I can't sing this today without weeping. I am also a widower, so it has layers of meaning. I keep remembering loves, family, pets even. Every one of them an individual, deserving recognition and remembrance, yet, we, too, will one day be with them, eventually forgotten. Wanting memory to linger after death is a cause of deep pain for us humans.
If you check out her album that song is on, you will be amazed. "I am Stretched on Your Grave." "Three Babies." Just two to check out. You will weep. I am sorry. They are achingly beautiful.
For other artists, old: Olivia Newton-John. She went all over the place, from Aussie-Country, up into soft-Rock, and musicals. You will know her from "Grease," but she also did "Xanadu," and a couple other forgettable things. But her voice. Her album, "Physical," struck a chord, because the original unedited video for that featured gay men (OMG! right?!?!), but also, "The Promise." She asked me to tell you about it, to listen to it, to really hear it, so I am, now. Bring a tissue.
And then, check out Miley Cyrus "Barefoot" series, where she does things outside with a band, live recorded. "Jolene." She is, after all, "Dolly's" actual, factual God-Daughter. Miley can sing ANY style and put her entire foot up in it.

I know, from being a singer myself, that doing those freeing moves that she is doing, causes you to sing better. It really helps you to get into it!!! To me, the main goal in singing is to want people to have a very moving experience!!! My lord, she was quite the performance!!! Thank you for doing both videos!!! Raw and soulful is the best!!!! For the most part sadly, a lot of that has died!!!! Love you Tasha!!! Always enjoy these videos, and your reactions!!!

A good example of studio vs live would be Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" track. The studio version is a masterpiece of production though many believed that it would be hard to replicate that live as there were so many complicated elements to that song. Radiohead did their work and when they performed it live on the 'Later with Jools Holland" show it was masterful and showed what a great band they truly were.

Sinead rips her heart open, and so we identify our own ripped hearts with her performance. Another great cut is "Last Day of Our Acquaintance"... the hurt from the juxtaposition of a cold legal ending against a fiery crucible of beginnings is so painful

Tasha, in an interview, she said she cut her hair that short because her mother thought her sister's hair was ugly, and used to introduce them both as her pretty daughter and her ugly daughter, so she chopped off her hair for that reason. I also understand that she was abused later in her childhood and she felt that not having pretty hair made her less attractive and would help keep people (i.e. predators) away from her.

Oh, you mentioned this theme of studio v live songs and the extra energy the latter brings. One example would be Florence and the Machine Dog Days Are Over. Studio is quirky. Live, many examples on You Tube, I'd suggest Oxegen Festival 2010!

She is a beautiful vocalist, no auto tune, she is amazing. The sad thing is the music industry is going back and auto tuning some of the greatest vocalists from the past, they are destroying our music I can hear auto tune, it's horrible that's why I don't listen to today's music, but now they are doing it to my groups from the 60s and 70s, soon we will lose their beautiful raw talent. It's absolutely disgusting Great reaction

The tears and vulnerability in the music video, especially when she sings the line “All the flowers that you planted, mamma, in the garden died when you went away” are because her mother had just recently died in a car accident, and she found herself reflecting on her. Sinead was always raw and honest. Irreplaceable.

Joni Mitchell wrote a song called Woodstock and gave it to her friends, Crosby, Stills, and Nash who had a hit with it on their 1970 album Deja Vu. It's great but Joni does a live version (Live In-Studio for the BBC in 1970) that blows it out of the water. It fits with what you're looking for. An amazing live performance. It's just Joni on piano.

She shines though. She almost had SNL shut down back in the day by doing poetry with the Pope's picture in the background . While shaving her head bald. My personal opinion is back in the the day there was true instruments being played. No electronics sounds for enhancement for voice or instruments. May she rip.

Music in today's world is manipulated too much with mixers and computers. Much of the older music recordings contain more genuine sounds of the artist, making sudio recording easier to replicate on stage.
Good example is Nights In White Satin by Moody Blues
Decades ago it was a big deal to go see a group live. Simple arrangement groups sounded just as good live ..... The Beach Boys, The Police, and Fleetwood Mac quickly come to mind.

Almost any country act is talent. Obviously Chris Stapleton. But again, almost any country act is not lip syncing and have real musicians.
