Seems to be a God of War tradition to have the first boss fight as one of the most epic fights, if not THE most epic of the game: the Hydra fight in part 1, the Colossus of Rhodes in part 2, and now Poseidon in this game...lol

@@theswordslay3542 no what i meant was that cronos didnt know where kratos was most of the fight. And kratos uses that to sneak around his body instead of facing him head on. Something he mooks poseidon for doing, even though poseidon was more head on then kratos. Cronos was hardly a fight, more a parkoure while fighting smaller enemys and a qt event in between

But when poseido did it kratos called him a coward for it, because he didnt fight him mano a mano. If kratos values a fair head on fight more why didnt he just stand infront of cronos screaming and lasching out with his weapons? Why did he sneak around to attack vital points? Of course its the smarter choices but it contradigs his statement to poseidon

I've always found it hard to believe that Kratos's tiny flailing with his swords is enough to actually hurt these gigantic monsters.

His blades are always made by one of the gods, so they're extremely powerful...he's not like you and me...I say it again.. He's the son of Zeus! .. Not to mention he became a God...
+Denny Kaleal Hercules was the strongest mortal, not strongest being. That's an important difference. Hercules ultimately died from treachery, which is the lesson in his story. It doesn't matter how strong you are, if you fall for the oldest trick in the book. Hercules died hard, too. Not mercifully, not painless, but an agonizing death from essentially putting on a jacket made of poisoned Mace (the spray, not the weapon)
The gods (well, god, Hera, if I remember right) won. It was only after that event that Hercules was given permission to ascend.
A dual purpose lesson. 1) The gods always win, and they hate you as much as they love you. 2) Strength is worthless if you aren't smart enough to succeed. (although, to be fair, it was his wife that was the idiot. He was just dumb for trusting her. She was the one who was told by a jealous centaur to give him the poison shirt.. don't look a gift centaur in the mouth, I suppose. Or maybe Beware of centaurs bearing gifts?)

Remember playing this first boss in 2010 in a gaming store. This moment still looks amazing, no game has ever come close to matching GoW 3's scale and epicness. I mean, this 7 year old game looks better than 90% of today's games.

Athena mentioned in the GOW1's ending that they mourned Ares. The fact that Ares has a tomb would suggest the gods stuck the blades of chaos somewhere in Olympus too, since Kratos picked them up before heading north for the new game.

As great as the new god of war games are, I long for the giant beasts and exotic gods of the original series. I really hope the next era goes back to this style but keeps the new gameplay.
This show that Poseidon underestimate his enemy so much that he even forgot how lacking of the physical condition he was.
Like i said you can hide and become danger inside a giant monster but when the reality show up outside you just a normal guy with support Magic which it seem to only manage some sort of nature power....

Poseidon was actually really strong, even on par with Zeus himself, mythological wise. But yes, his arrogance got the better of him, which let him to his demise...a miserable one.

I bought a ps3 when this game was released first. I was shocked by all this badassery and epicness in a 20 minutes battle. I believe they needed like 6 months or more just to design this part of the game.

God of War is a series that has never failed its fans. Almost all games of the series might have a superior, (In my opinion: GOW3 and GOW4>GOW2>GOW1>GOW:GoS>GOW:Ascension>GOW:CoO) but every single one is flawless (Except that pixelated mobile game or whatever that was). Epic music, epic gameplay, amazing story, boobies c: , blood and gore and unique takedowns etc etc. Also what I really loved about this series is that it explores the thousands of characters inspired by Greek mythology (And currently Norse, which is a big plus cause I really want to learn more about something that I'd otherwise find boring). Truly one of the best video game series ever created.

I remember the first time I fought him, it was awesome I was a virgin in GoW, and his voice it was awesome, also is funny how you can take damage in easy like nothing happens, but in chaos you have to hold and avoid all damage like crazy.
I've been playing these games for years and the only one I was ever able to finish on hard was GoW 1... They're REALLY fucking hard. Not in terms of bosses, but in enemy mobs.
Although. I suppose Zeus in GoW 2 is hard as fucking tits.
