Thanks for the video ! went almost exact same for my 2000 only there were 4 bolts (no center console--extended cover. Did the same to blow it out then just vacuum up= it was nasty. sure they had never been changed on mine either. Big difference in air flow.

@slkocke It could be your problem. A way to check without spending any money would be to temporarily remove the filters and see if the AC blows stronger.
@filterheads The cabin filter was most definetly my problem. My husband removed the filter just like in the video. The filter was clogged with concrete dust. It used to be a work truck at a concrete plant. After he removed the filter the air blew so hard and cold i was actually cold and had to turn it way down.

The 04 Escalade doesn't have a cabin filter that you can change. Starting in 03 Chevy, GMC, Cadillac and Ford dropped the option for their trucks and suvs to have cabin filters.
@Browningauto5magnum According to our research any Silverado newer than 04 doesn't have a cabin filter, and the 03 and 04 models have a different A/C setup than the 01 in this video.

@xchopainx We don't have a good explanation of why your vehicle is having this problem. We looked through the service bulletins for your model year and could not find anything that would cause this. There is always a possibility that mold may be growing in or around your system. If something blew into your intake that is caught in your system it may also create this problem. I would get a mechanic to take a closer look.
nope, i just replaced the cabin filters today, i got the tahoe about a month ago and noticed every time the a/c was on, it had a funky odor to it, also, the air flow was weak. my dad had a 2001 silverado and told me the older models have cabin filters, so i checked it out and my god was it dirty, it had been 12 years since it hadn't been changed. i replaced them and air flow was stronger and no more funky smell!

+filterheads I have problem n wanna see if u could help me out, for some reason I feel like my AC is not cooling the proper way...now I know it's now it the compressor bc the pulley goes on and off...wen I crank the teuck on and it's on park I don't feel like is cooling..but wen i start running it it cools lil more but than I feel like if it was just the Fan...I mean I put freeon and it's good now..bit I'm still having that problem so wanna see if u could help me out please

The temps should drop a little with the new filter due to the free flowing air over the evaporator....u can see it on a setof gauges when u have a bad cabin air filter vs good one

I have had a Service engine light on my 2000 silverado with an emissions code for about 5 yrs. No shop has been able to clear it. I changed these cabin filters and the code cleared and service engine light went away. I have to wonder how many silverado pickups have a service engine light due to these filters.

Yea I’ve got a 06 avalanche no filter. Another strange thing thing is the vin number tenth digit is 6 for 2006 but the door jam tag says it was manufactured in 12/15 ? It was assembled in Mexico that’s probably got something to do with it.

Any vehicle manufactured will be sold the following year. They wouldn't make your truck the last month of the year and put it on the market as a 15 just for one month.

Is there a cabin air filter for the 2003 Silverado, 5.3L Engine? I have heard both yes and no, all indications point at no. I have looked in the truck after following your video and cannot find it.
This is what our website says about the 2003 Silverado... "It is very unlikely that your vehicle can actually accept this filter. Very few were equipped from the dealer with a filter access door. Verify that your vehicle can accept a filter before ordering. Verify that your vehicle has a cabin filter before purchasing. Thanks for the video. I'm confused...why would Chevy not include an in cabin air filter on some trucks? Does this mean that if I drive in the red sand deserts of Arizona, I will get red dust everywhere inside the truck? How does it prevent dirt an debris from getting in, if there is no air filter?

Cabin filters are in about 90% of the cars on the road today but back in early 2000 they were a new addition to most cars. I do not know why they did not install the cabin filter in all of the Chevy trucks. The cabin air filter helps filter dust and debris from entering the cabin of the vehicle. It is especially helpful during allergy season because it keeps pollen from entering the cabin of your vehicle through your air system. If you goto your dealer they may be able to install a cabin filter in your truck or have a way to clean out your vents.

I have a 2011 Silverado 5.3 z71 as soon as I turn on the ac I get a bad smell for no more then a few sec, no luck finding cabin air filter any help?
Is your a Silverado a 1500, 1500 HD, 2500, 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD.

The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 did not come with the cabin air filter option. I would ask your dealer what they would do to clean out the ventilation and then look it up and see if it is something you can do yourself.
You need a bacteria spray or bomb for your ac. They work well at killing off the bacteria in your ac that causes the smell.

Not all came with the cabin air filter option. It is good to check your vehicle to see if it came with the option before purchasing a filter.
You should be sure to mention this is not 07-13 silverado as they have no cabin air filter.
HonestJohnny true...plus 2003-2007(classic) do not have a serviceable filter. Ask me how I know lol. You can use a dremel to cut the lower part of the housing where the cover is located on 99-02 trucks, then make your own cover, but its a PITA.

Not that difficult to install filters in the 03-07 T800. GM didn't cut away the access area. Dremel the plastic and voila cabin filter access just like the 99-02 T800. Fab a cover from aluminum bar stock. Google is your friend.
I remember reading that you could do the same or similar thing with the 08-13 T900 that don't have filters.
The K2xx 14-18 trucks have a filter behind the glovebox.

Verify that your vehicle has a cabin filter before purchasing. The cabin air filter was a dealer installed option so it is rare to find one with the cabin air filter housing.

2005 silverado 5.3l the filter cover is molded into housing. NO DOOR. Net said 2005 trucks have no filter.

Usually replacing the cabin air filter makes the air flow stronger. I don't think it will make the air any cooler than it is.
What exact year is this vehicle? I drive an 07 with the newer body style (08 to 13 body). Is it the same for mine? I have yet to look at mine to find out.

Yes this filter is for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cabin air filter. Not all came with this option so please check your vehicle before purchasing a filter. You should replace your cabin air filter once a year or every 15,000 miles. A dirty cabin air filter filter could be filled with debris like leaves, pollen, and dust. If you live in an area with a lot of smog or around a lot of trees you might want to consider replacing it more often because you'll have more debris that may clog up the filter. Stale odors can also be caused by dirty cabin air filters.

99-02 GMT800 has a double panel cabin filter like this video. Early 03 has a single panel filter. Late 03-07 GMT800 and the earlier GMT900 trucks didn't but you can retrofit the single panel filter in many but not all of them.
would be a lot more useful if it showed what you have to do to get to the air filter cover, which is 95% of the job
+Adam Schatz This particular vehicle we used did not have a panel at the time of the video. If you do have a panel, there are 4 bolts that hold that panel in place.
Will dirty filter cause engine light come on
If your engine light comes on it is best to take your vehicle into the mechanic.

Most early model Silverados only had cabin filters as dealer installed options. If your vehicle doesn't look the same as the video it most likely does not have the cabin air filter housing.

filterheads thanks for the information. . My Chevy 08 Avalanche,, A/C was in and out blowing .. Now not blowing at all on full blast. Sucks. lol. Blend doors are working , But no heat either. Would it be a relay or bowes , gone bad..?
I am not sure what is wrong with the A/C or heat in your vehicle without looking at it in person. I think it would be best if you take your car into your dealer and have them look at it.

No. I have an 07 (no CAFs).... the only thing I've found so far is a "Lysol cleaning" through the air intake....and yes that's exactly what you think it is. bleh
roll windows down. start truck. turn on AC/snowflake/intake air(not recirculate)...spray full can into both sides of air intake...let run for 30 minutes to an hour....smells like new...(yeah it sucks)
