So slap a extruder head beside the spindle on a 5 axis of the shelf mill, and call it a new product?

It never moves to another axis except x y and z in this video. Dubious at least. Cuts to a different angle no video showing it can print while tilting!

Bet this hasn’t went to market yet.

None of the printed objects in this video isn't possible on a normal cheap 3D printer.
And resolution of this printer looks terrible.
If it can print while moving the object, then why not show it?
Even it can do this without the print getting lose from the build surface, its nothing more than a 5 axis CNC with a printhead.

is it just me or all the print samples look like sex toys, or some weird tentacles from Manga?

Pretty nice. But 5-axis is no biggy in the world of cnc. What would be nice to see is the software..

Yes, the machnical part is trivial at this point really. The software / cam is trickies and most complicated.

So you save $0.50 on plastic and spend $200,000 on the printer

Those prints look kinda rough. They were probably using 1mm resolution.

or the old 3mm filament. its good for very fast prints but very bad for detail. so they deiced to machine it instead of printing in higher resolution... "advanced technology"
but seriously printing large things with 1.75mm filament is a huge time sink. if they're looking to use this for large objects quick turnaround is important. more orders fulfilled more money.

Why does the machined surface look uglier than the extruded surface?

Funny the finished results are not even good! A normal 3d printer can do better!

We were impressed by the video, looking forward to the next. We are a small 3D modeling software startup completely bootstrapped and tooks us 5 years to develop our real-time collaborative CAD.? Would be great if you had time to check our software SolidFace.

It looks like a future of 3d printing. What sort of the software is used for cad, cam and control for this machine. How much of the programming is done manually, or with designer hints to the cam what to do?

I recall a printer like this coming out about a year ago where instead the nozzle moved on multiple axis but these machines still rock either way (and the other one didn't do machining)

5 axis will make the strongest parts. It's great!
