If you like pompano fishing then if you ever get the chance to go to Deerfield Pier you should try targeting lesser amberjack. I am from California but I sometimes take trips to South Florida in the summer. There is a reef that Deerfield pier sits on that is loaded with all sorts of fish including amberjack. They are in my opinion the most fun fish to target! The only thing is you have to go light because they are kinda finicky and since they fight like tanks and love structure, you end up loosing a lot of gear. I prefer to use 10 lb fluorocarbon with a 20 lb mono leader, a small circle/ octopus hook, and a live pilchard or sardine. I’ve only managed to land one keeper while targeting them like this but it tasted so good that it was definitely worth losing a ton of gear and weeding through shorts. Even the shorts fight harder than a mackerel twice the size!

@@horsanmelsom9648 nothing was better than when they had the fishing bridge portion. Sickest spot to catch tarpon cobia huge drum at night, crazy how much the bay has changed. And with what they did to Ft. Desoto causeway u can’t even fish from the shore or the bridge there now

Great channel, great fishing. Definitely know what you're doing. However, please ask your videographer to pan down so that we can get to see the fish the moments the hook is set. It's much more enjoyable to see that than having to see the narrative.

Always wonder why mackerels are thrown in, they're great. I guess to each their own. I haven't met one person that has eaten a Spanish mackerel that hasn't said damn that's a good fish.

I like the zodias cause it’s lighter. It’s a freshwater rod but I’ve had it for 6 months and I’ve never had any issues with it
