15 strikes unanswered after the knockout give or take +\- 1 was insane. What’s even more crazy is if you look at those first few ground strikes, you can almost see the spirit of Herb Dean baseball sliding in for the stoppage around the 3rd/4th strike. The man was buffering and I guess it happens but that was one of the most horrible late stoppages I’ve ever seen.
At this point I think Yamasaki is better known amongst the younger MMA community for Dana white calling him out more so than his actual career as an MMA referee.
@@cherb7071Doesn't matter how solid of a ref he was, allowing someone to take that many unanswered strikes can end up killing the person. I've seen plenty videos of people getting KOd and then continue to get hit until they start seizing up. There's never been a death in the octagon, at least the UFC octagon. That ref almost ruined that streak with his incompetency. And before you ask, no, I couldn't do any better. Because I'm not a ref who is supposed to have training and know his stuff.
@@Bryan48950come on look at them in press conference they fight more then that in conference... They deserve more punishment specially Bobby Green, zero talent totally relying on reff...
Because he is actually a very well respected ref... he just made the biggest mistake in the sports history. Bobby honestly could have died if he received one more shot to the dome.
Also, there is no “code” like in NHL where a guy down means stop throwing them. I find it really hard to understand why fighters don’t take some of the responsibility in these situations.
Every ufc ref is terrible. Herb and Marc Goddard are absolutely trash refs and get praised. Jason herzog is my personal favorite but he messes up once in a while too. It’s hard when guys wanna keep going but you don’t know how much they can take
The worst stoppage for me was Shane Carwin vs frank mir, mir took dozens of unanswered shot while he was flattened out and Carwin was one of the hardest hitters ever
Funniest part is jalin turner wailing on a comatose bobby green but his very next fight tries a 1 shot KO on moicano and then gets finished, settle somewhere in the middle young fella lol
typical....... this was a "late stoppage" but juri vs alex was a "early stoppage". people need to give these refs a brake, everything is a early or late stoppage........
The ref was not present. His brain was somewhere else. I’m sure he’ll look back on the video and cringe. This one of the worst late stoppage in UFC history.
It was horrible, but i can respect the fact that he knew he was wrong, said it to everyone, and genuinely feels awful. All too often a ref will have a horrible stoppage and refuse to admit fault.
So what does ot take for a ref to be fired ? This was 6-7 seconds late. We are not talking reaction times. Insane that Greene fought and won 5 months later.
And then Bobby comes back and puts a UFC legend in the hospital in his next fight😂 King Green is the fucking man. I sent him a message on Facebook a few weeks ago and to my surprise he responded and we went back and forth for a little bit. Bobby is the fucking man I told him his next walkout song should be king back by TI and he said that would be fire because that intro is crazy for a UFC fight. If you heard the song you know what I'm talking about. So if he does that I'm going to be so fucking hype
Other than getting fired by Dana or whoever are there any repercussions for referees that make horrible decisions? What I mean is like are they banned for life from reffing fights. I don’t know if y’all remember, but I remember that one guy back in Tyson’s day or around there who was getting bullied because he was gay and the gay guy hit him so many times after he was unconscious he ended up killing the guy.
Neither Dana nor UFC can fire the ref. Its appointed to these fights by each states athletic comission so if you want something done about it you got to take it to the state the ref is in.
It's a tough job ppl think of it as easy but last thing u want is to step in & have the guy on the ground pop up saying "wtf u doing!?!" So being 1st rd co-main prob made it bit harder but mistakes happen he admitted he made a awful call that night so what can u do🤷♂️
It doesn't happen so much. Infact usually the refs get called out for stopping a fight too early. The last memorable late stoppage like this was with Mario Yamasaki and he was fired for this reason.
This isn’t really a criticism of Dana. And I agree that it’s not every ref and it doesn’t happen every card. But as a fan I’d much rather see an early stoppage than a late one
How many would you have given him before you'd have stopped the fight? I say at the 9th I'm calling it. You could make an argument for even as low as 4 to 5 coz those were super solid

16 unanswered strikes, while belly down, fucking wild
He was unconscious on the first strike also
*19 after Bobby dropped. Crazy.
He was out, then knocked out again. Then started convulsing.
Pretty sure if we had a decent angle that green was ko’d 4 times

Surprised he didn't throw an insult to Mazzagatti in there too 😂
Yamakakis legacy will live on!
“You’d have to ask the ref”
MAYBE WE WOULD IF WE COULD. REQUIRE THE REFS TO ANSWER FOR THEIR ACTIONS
I think refs should 100% have to answer to the media at the post fight presser
Valid
Also the judges, all of em need to answer for their decision, good ones and the bad ones.
They don’t work for the ufc. So Dana can’t make them do anything
@@somecsguy9824 the entire crowd was screaming at him to stop it. I was a few rows up. Terrible stoppage.
