  • I'm very happy with how this turned out! This was my first time waxing a rope and I may do it to a bullwhip in the future.

hey, great video! I'm thinking to do this to a dog leash that loops around my body. I'm hesitant though - will the bees wax make the leash greasy and stain my clothes? would be cool to get your opinion on this!

I would say for a dog leash you probably don’t need the wax. The wax is to make the rope a little stiffer and yes, it might get on your clothes

Just checking to see how the paracord is holding up? Anything you would change on a future one?

It’s actually holding up pretty good. I’ve had it hanging in the back glass of my pickup truck. After making it, I realized that the paracord I used was not not true 550 cord. True 550 cord would be a little stiffer and probably better.

@@BriansAmericanMade debating making one as well to actually use. Would you recommend making one, or was it a cool 1-n-done project 😂😂?

Mine doesn’t quite seem stiff enough to feel like a traditional lasso or riata. I didn’t learn that traditional riata makers pull really tight on each strand periodically as they braid it and I didn’t do that. If I were to do that and use the real paracord, I think it would work really well. I will probably make another one one day to test the theory. It’s not bad though. It is still throwable.

Your not holding your rope quiet right, you need a longer spoke the distance between ur hondo and hand and your swing isn't great but seems to be comfortable and not like your catching cattle or anything but the easiest change would be just make ur spoke longer

Looks great, but I'd like to see it in action. Maybe get a local roper to work it for awhile and see how it does
