It's not really weird for RPG books to come out with typos and minor errors like this. That's what errata documents are for, and I promise whatever RPG you play has one as well.
I'm sure it's some outside editor that doesn't play took out some critical text and they did it Juuuuust a little too much. They didn't catch all of the subtractions when they checked one more time.

actually, that's a myth and it's not how Polymorph or True Polymorph work. That spell reads exactly the same in the printed PHB as it does currently on D&D Beyond
what it says in the book and what it says on DnDBeyond are exactly the same, so there is no errata. But for some reason many people are reporting that polymorph is incorrect in the book. It ain't tho
There has been ten years to write this book (this is still 5e, not 5.5e), and they still have errata before most people even get their hands on the book? I hate the direction Hasbro is taking D&D.
Grappling under Unarmed Strike on page 377 So the victim must succeed on a Str/Dex (victim choice) saving throw with the DC being 8 + Str Mod + Proficiency Bonus of the Grappler... Shouldn't that be Athletics Proficiency Bonus? Otherwise there is less and less reason to use Athletics. This is probably not an eratta, this may just be someone trying to remove extra words.
I get what you're saying. You can use Athletics to escape a grapple, but it's not part of the initial grapple. They've made grappling more confusing overall, I think.
@@wizardsling Not sure if I'm remembering this correctly, but people used to make grappling builds with rangers or rogues using the Expertise in Athletics. I think they want to NOT reward that build.
@@wizardsling How is grappling more confusing? You make an unarmed strike and if you hit, you force the target to make a save with a DC that's calculated in the exact same way that all of your other save DCs are calculated. If they fail, they're grappled. Also, besides Zr0din's point, having a save attached to a grapple breaks some pretty busted combos; the Spike Growth cheese grater comes to mind.
@@ilovethelegend The spike growth cheese grater built is even further nerfed because under carry capacity in the glossary, if you are pulling more then your CARRY capacity, your movement is capped at 5 feet
@@ilovethelegend OK, this came up recently - so the victim didn't make the initial save and the player did a movement and a bonus action dash along the side of the Spike Growth area. So it all comes down to that one save after the grapple?

@@ilovethelegend I get it, but this is not a Kickstarter product... this is not a small indie company. Half of the things from this book look like it wasn't playtested at all, just rushed to be released like AAA games with a bunch of bugs. I would expect much better from someone who wants to catch money at every turn. I don't mind errata, but I hope that print version 4 will be up to date since people who will buy this won't know errata things even exist and will take this at face value. Again if this were an independent publisher I would understand, but this is Corpo product and I expected more, than debating which version of the physical book at the table is viable.
@@ilovethelegend It's not like they lack resources or time... they are really rushing this product to be half-released this year to catch 50th anniversary. And sadly it shows.
I’m more of a sticky notes guy myself
I love that you are writing in your new book! Great video.
OMG! Writing in an alt cover PHB! The horror! 😂
Glad to get the errata. Thx.
I remember the first printing of the Player's Handbook falling apart for 2014.
Where did you get that version?
It's gorgeous and so much better looking than the one I've seen.

heh it's just the "alt" PHB cover. You can get it at any friendly local game store
The quality control is top notch. Did anybody even look at the preview copy before approving full print?

It's how almost all ttrpg books go? What do you want for the system to be still?
This dude does not play 40k. The new PHB ain't got nothing on GW Codices.
Go read the multiple pages of pathfinder 2e remaster errata for its first printing.
essential, thank you

That is one shiny book.
