Paul, Thank you for the overview of the Amphion Pro-Line. What other amplifiers have you tried with your One18 Monitors? What is the difference between the One18 and the Argon 3 in their consumer line? Thank you, once again, for your review here and ongoing work. Best regards....take care....John
I have only ever used/compared the Amphion amps...the 100 and up. I actually always liked the high-end of the One18 best with the Amp 100, which, sadly, is no longer made. I think I tried an ATC power amp once, but I don't remember anything concrete about the sound, as it has been a few years.
Honestly I think manufacturers like Amphion should read about "analysis paralysis" and "the paradox of choice". The Auratone and Yamaha NS-10 didn't. become legendary speakers out of a family of Auratone 3, Auratone 4, Auratone 5, Auratone 6 - and Yamaha NS-8, NS-10, NS-12, NS-15. There was "an Auratone" and "a Yamaha NS-10". Keep it simple! Too much choice for very few sensible reasons.
Ive had a pair of One18's for 5 years and they are incredibly directional. Unless I'm sitting within the perfect triangular sweet spot, I am getting different correlations and results. Amphion's whole thing is how engulfing the sound is, I find the OPPOSITE is true. I've been living with this for 5 years because I'm still able to get good mixes but today I was working on a commercial and while looping a piano note that resonates at 439Hz the left front 7" driver makes a horrible vibrational buzzing noise like metal on metal oscillating at 439Hz per second. I know people seem to love these monitors but I sure do NOT.

@@RecordingMag Thanks for the quick response…by “high end version” of the One 18, do you mean the Argon 3 in their consumer line?
Paul,
Have you heard the Neumann kh 150 or the Kh 120 mk2…if so how do they compare to the One18?
@@johnshepherd708 I was actually refering to liking the high frequency response of the One18 better with the Amp100 vs the Amp500
@ I have heard the Neumann monitors at a few studios, but never side by side with the Amphion.
Regarding the price of the one18 and two15 Amphions, wouldn't it be more interesting to compare them to Genelec's the ones range?
Such an awesome video, thanks!
man.. i need more data to pull the trigger between "Two 15 vs Two 18".
We are happy to assist with any questions you may have !
It isnt that PROFESSIONAL...more hyped mid range .. snares can be too upfront..buy FOCAL

Dawg Amphion themselves replied to you and you ignored them, you don't deserve more information
