For those on here talking about the Close Encounters recurring sketch - Kate recently did a long interview on a podcast called Good One going into the history of them writing and performing that character. She credits Mikey Day for knowing her so well and basically just writing it in her actual voice. But it’s an interesting episode for any Kate fans.
Watching her on SNL had been so interesting and amazing. She grew so much in talent and recognition during what I believe to be the post-Tina Fey/Amy Poehler/Bill Hader/Seth Meyers/co era. The moment all those giants left, I couldn’t think of a singular star besides Kate and Kenan (I hope he never retires SNL, but then… lol… ).

Holy moly the performance in episode One of her as Carole Baskin was amazing. She was, by far, the most memorable member for that cast for me.. (except Keenan lol but I don't think that counts). I've never given up on SNL since growing up with the likes of Sandler, Farley, Hartman, Ferrel, Rock, Myers, Carvey, NORM, Kevin Nealon... Good lord...not one woman lol. Now, I feel that Poehler, Fey and Kate have been holding that energy together. big shoes to fill

hahaha when I was a little girl, my grandparents grew some grape trees in the garden. And we had to fight with this kind of bugs every year. In China it has a name that translates into “flowery bean lady”. The name sounds beautiful but I have been scared of the bugs since childhood😂. It’s amazing to see that Kate could find it’s beauty.
I was near Philly 5 years ago at a yearly retro-convention, aka Retro-Con. Like comicon, but old toys, games and books, and we saw the Spotted Lantern Fly EVERYWHERE, not knowing what it was at the time. We just thought they were awesome looking. They were in trees and a lot of dead ones on the ground. It's impossible to miss them with those bright red butt cheeks. We read about them a few months later, with them being a HUGE issue there. They're from some Asian country(not Japan as far as I know), and they destroy crops and have no natural enemies to eat them to keep local habitats balanced here, so the only way to stop them is to kill as many as possible from what's been said. We went to the same event last year 2021, and we didn't see nearly as many, but the event moved to about 3 to 4 weeks earlier than previous years, so that may be why.
