    Not only in-laws but if anyone's behaviour is causing you mental turbulence then it's better to stay away or ignore them .Because our mental stability should be our first priority.

      Go to himalaya then, because in society there will always be someone causing you mental turbulence. If you can't handle your mother father who only wants your good then it would be hard for you deal with harsh society who try to drag you in mud always.

      Yes i am married for 10 years and have 6 year old son. But when his mom yells for silly things, he never opens his mouth. I have found a solution. Keep your communication with in laws to the minimum. Avoid sharing any kind of information with them. Be a strong woman and show them you have a right to live in the house. And be financially as well as emotionally independant. Dont ever expect your husband to have your back, they are his family first and you entered later to it. Be happy with yourself always and believe and pray that even if none of them love you, the love of God is more than enough for your entire life... tc all who are hurting...

She now sees that nothing gets to me and I honestly don’t care if she’s being a CU&+. We still love together but I realized that I am in control of how I let others make me feel. And I CHOOSE to not let her get to me in any negative way. It’s been great ever since. She shes backed off a lot too. Maybe she noticed I don’t care lol

    This is ridiculous. Even in today's modern times, we're having to endure so much. Why can't we all just for a change RESPECT each other's BOUNDARIES? It's just unfair to expect so much from a daughter in law while the only expectation from a son-in-law would be to keep their daughter happy!

      Nice approach. Reeks of negativity and suspicion right from the get go. Why not keep an honest and transparent relationship with your husband rather than playing mind games of ‘who has the upper hand or lower hand’. A home is a place that has no place for your mind games where you are free to be who you are. If you are so worried about the upper hand then don’t get married in the first place. Live an independent life. You will always have the UPPER hand whatever that means.

      @lkofie6670 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pinksmurf10 Well, I can't say I have all the answers but from my perspective here are some suggestions.
      First visiting and living with you are two different things. At least if they're visiting you then its just for a very short period of time. But if they are talking about living with you maybe your husband and his siblings can find a senior apartment living complex where the rent is reasonable. That way, his parents could pay half the rent and the other half can be divided amongst him and his siblings. So for example if the rent is $500 his parents will pay $250 with their social security and your husband and his siblings would divide the remaining $250 amongst them. Advocate that by doing it that way everyone will have their own space it would be convenient and everyone can have their privacy.
      Now if they have to live with you then hopefully you have the space where you hardly have to set eyes on them...I'm serious. Personally, when my in-laws came to visit not so long ago for what was supposed to have been 2 weeks but turned into a two and a half month stay I hardly saw them. Covid-19 extended their stay because the airports and traveling situation was tight and risky for them considering their age. So that's what happened there. They were coming from overseas where they retired and then they were planning to travel out of state to visit the other SILS there...but again social distancing, quarantining, etc. prolonged their stay with my husband and I. All that time, I saw them like a hand full of times. Fortunately we have a basement that's equivalent to say a house apartment. It has a living space, bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen and separate exit/entrance. Even from my husband's suggestion, I just "Ignored them, gave them their space and did as always." Now of course I was cordial and respectful and all but I kept my distance. Now on another note let's face it, life is hard for everybody. So that means start talking about them assisting with utility payments...more people are now going to be using up the energy in the house. OR they can divide their time between the siblings. So for example, they'll spend 2-3 months with you and your husband, and 2-3 months with another sibling and so on. That way it can be cost efficient and fair for everyone and to some degree you'll still have a privacy factor. Good luck.

      It's not a straight forward answer. Everyones relationship and circumstances are varied. The only thing that is common is that toxic in laws MUST be avoided at ALL costs. How that happens depends on your individual circumstances but it MUST happen to preserve your sanity and self esteem.

      That's not what I heard at all. She simply advised not to make assumptions based on things that have not been said. If you need clarification, just ask. If something truly concerns you about the way your spouse is handling a matter concerning your in laws, speak to your spouse and actively listen to what they have to say regarding their reasons for doing so.

      I pray and hope the best for you sis. I had to bring my in-laws to the place where I live inorder to take care of my little girl so that I can go for work and the one time my mother in-law helped my daughter change her pyjamas (after being her for like7 weeks, finally) and she didn't look very happy and so I asked her is everything ok? I never left her to do it by herself, I was always there beside her to help but still she had a hard face and the reason why she had to do it is because my daughter wanted her grandma to dress her this time. She then explained to me that she finds it very difficult to change my daughter's PJs because she has never took care of a girl before. That broke my heart and I asked her aren't you a woman mommy? what is the extra skill that is required to help a girl wear her PJs? and I told her that it really hurt me. After a few days while I was doing the kitchen work and preparing my daughter's breakfast she came out of the washroom and asked me to feed my kid in a rude way and again I had to speak out saying that she didn't have to tell me what I should do for my child as there is no one in this house that is actually helping my daughter for anything at all and she was like let me say what I am saying just listen and keep quiet that is what my other daughter in-law does. She never speaks back to me and then she started crying. My husband is not home almost 5 days a week and I am going through a hard time.

      Then you've to get out of your comfort zone . Atleast take a step & call her .May be you can't talk with her more but atleast try ; if she is near by you then it would be great to meet in person or if she's far then fix a day to meet your in-laws. Cause communication is the vital factor in a relationship, if we don't communicate how do we know what is on other person's mind. Without communication there will be misunderstandings, doubts. At least try to communicate then slowly slowly make connection wid them. Bt if they r like" we need all your attention cause you r going to be our daughter in law then that would creat a problem. They've to understand there are other things in your life. So atleast fr making some connection take tiney step.Try to talk fr sometime in a week .no need to call daily.
      Ohk!! Hope my suggestion will help you. Bdw congrats !!May you get a life wid full of love nd happiness 😊

    I feel that its hard to explain someone who is deaf n blind. They really become blind to acknowledge your goodness. In first place they should not marry their son. When son does something for his wife then they think why for only? Or in case why for her? This should have been mine not hers . If this was the case then they should have kept their son unmarried n have taken or enjoyed with him whole life but no they need someone to torture abuse , put someone down. Horrible relationship is this. Feel ashamed of this.

    This vid is NOT helpful. Indian MIL are VERY vocal about dislike, they would run around you (like tag herself behind you ) and keep saying the same thing again and again of how AWFUL I wore the dress or how bad the food was. There is ZERO subtlety. When she says out loud in front of the family that you stole her son- there is no hidden meaning? Only thing I agree is that yes there is certain disappointment when the MIL’s son no opinion and ignores about his moms’s bad behaviour or mental abuse.

      What a difficult and sad situation. My mother in law is a good person, but she is absolutely overattached to her kids, especially my husband. Now that we are awaiting our first child she turns into a control freak. I can sense she is afraid to "lose" him and takes it out on me, which I don't deserve and won't put up with basically. But it's incredibly hard to communicate that towards my husband without causing big drama and fights. Also, I just don't need this kind of stress right now, given the fact that I'm pregnant. Sometimes I get really desperate...
