Filming was also done atop Sugarloaf Mountain, with the boulders at the top of the mountain doubling for locations at Great Falls that were too dangerous for the stars to actually use. All camera angles at Sugarloaf were looking up at Beatty, Seberg and Fonda, and the sound of the falls was dubbed in later. I still remember eating lunch with the cast and crew at Comus Inn. I was ten years old, and I was there with my mother and father, because my father was J. R. Salamanca, the author of the novel on which the film was based.

I read this book when I was 12 and saw the film when I was 14 (in 68). I sold on the story when I read the part about a regular spider’s web and a mad spider’s web. I got a serious crush on Jean Seberg. I love your dad’s writer. Wow. Nice to “meet” you, Richard.

@@foxandscout Nice to hear from you; foxandscout! If you were reading Lilith at age 12, you were a very grown up and mature 12 yar old! I'm so glad that my father's writing enriched your young life! Best wishes, Rick Salamanca.

@@fiction4u1 My name shouldn’t be foxandscout, scout is long gone. That’s Jackson in the photo with me.
My sister was 5 years older and I was an avid reader since kindergarten-so I devoured everything she read. Luckily for me she had excellent taste, besides what was necessary for school. She bought books like The Godfather and Portnoy’s Complaint upon publication. I must say, by the time I got to high school I had read every required book, and that kind of made me very lazy. We are the same age, so we probably had the same reading trajectory. (I’m a New Yorker.) There were some books I perhaps shouldn’t have read at 12. Candy, for example. I probably didn’t get all the humor when younger. The sex wasn’t detailed enough to be something I shouldn’t have read. But it wasn’t until I saw it again when I was in college that I knew a lot more about the cast. The Richard Burton and Ringo Starr parts were my favorites.
In 6th grade I went through all the Bond books and there too, the sex was implied. (“She dropped her pants” I recall was the last sentence of a chapter.)
In 11th grade I was 15 (skipped 8th grade) and my English teacher took the class on the weekend to see the film Last Summer. Quite a disturbing film. First time I saw 2 guys kissing on screen-it took place on Fire Island ( I had a few gay friends male and female but none had relationships yet.) Barbara Hershey and Richard Thomas. I don’t think teachers these days are allowed to form the friendships with students like in my generation. My high school science teacher dated openly a student! My art teacher who was also chairman brought students to his home (for his art studio) all the time. It was the late ‘60s and boy do I miss the optimism even though we were fighting big problems (Viet Nam, women’s rights. 1972 we achieved Roe v Wade. Who thought I would see that eroded in my lifetime? Fuck Texas! Ok enough of my memory lane!
I read earlier a bio and I’m not sure if it was Wikipedia or ? But... it said ... I’m paraphrasing... that your parents’s most proud joy was when you were born. That is so lovely to know!
I didn’t read your dad’s last book. It’s now on my short list of books to get. I usually go to bookfinder dot com as I am poor, to get a used copy in good shape. Actually I use it to find hard to find books.
Thanks for responding, Rick, and I hope your business is successful and your life is joyful. Happy Autumn.
