- This year on January 31st, Home turned five years old. I wasn’t able to post anything to commemorate it because I didn’t even realize it has been that long. It’s one of those songs with an alluring and mythical history: came to me in a dream. finished in one sitting. released for a high-profile wedding.
At the time that I was writing Home, I wasn’t in a good place, emotionally. I also felt like I had absolutely no experience OR authority to be talking about enduring love. Now I’m supposed to be writing for a wedding? But I had to say yes, the way I do when big and scary opportunities land on my lap. I say yes without thinking of the fear first. Then I’ll just figure it out along the way. Love, it turns out, is a universal emotion. Despite my doubts, I had it in me to write this song from an honest and true place.
To this day, Home is still my most popular song. I still get a lot of emails asking if they could play this at their wedding. When I would do meet-and-greets (a time long gone now lol huhu), every now and then there’d be a couple saying that Home is their song. It’s the song that scored their falling in love. What a privilege to be able to write a song that becomes part of people’s consciousness when they think about their greatest loves.
Now that Home has turned five, and in human years it is now running off to a playground somewhere, I wanted to give it what it should have had a long time ago. Enjoy!

You are tired of sharing all your secrets, anxieties, dreams, and hopes over and over again. You want a stable relationship, assurance, and a place where you and your heart can be safe. A person who can accept all of your flaws and insecurities, will love you unconditionally, find you interesting every day, and is constantly in love with you. Always remember that there's still hope, and the idea of a person where you can finally say that you are "Home" is still out there. :)

Home was 3 years old when me and my ex broke up. It is our favorite song. We listen to it often, and sometimes say lines from it before we sleep. 2 years later, and we both have moved on. I can say I have moved on because I can listen to it now, without the feeling of hate, or sadness, or anything negative. I have found my new love and listening to this now hits different.

These lines hit different. Always. Now this may sound dramatic but this is true. I remember listening to this song when my elder sister was in her 1st year of University. We are the most closest to each other, and she holds a special place in my heart. We had NEVER been apart from each other, always cuddled at night and she taught me maths. We played games,talked about life,etc. The day she went to college, i didn't cry. I simply didn't know how to feel. But then one day a friend of mine forwarded this song to me on whatsapp. I just clicked it and listened to the whole song in one go. And listening to these very lines, i cried that day. I was feeling lost because there was no guidance, i wasn't that open to my parents about my school life or personal life, i didn't have that many friends to express my feelings, and on top of that my sis wasn't there with me. I was slowly deteriorating in my studies(at the time of my first exam in june-july). But this song gave me strength. It made me realise that my sister is always there with me.I started scoring grades better as well . It's amazing how a song can literally be your happy home.
