At 9:07, isn't holding onto the ball the right play? The catcher is all the way out at third, and no one's covering home. There are no outs, so it's not like they can end the inning; if he throws to second, the runner at third scores. If he throws to second as soon as the runner starts going back to third, he's close enough to home that he can probably be ready for a return throw and stop the runner from scoring, but by the time he realises, it's too late.
