    Howard Jones came to a little church in Northern Virginia in the 90’s and I waited in a long line to thank him for kinda saving my life. With this song especially, at a time I was negotiating these same turbulent channels and challenges. It was so sweet, his response. I will never forget his wisdom and kindness.

    Oh God, I miss the 1980s.
    I bought Human's Lib as a wide-eyed 18-year old.
    I had a job, a car, great friends, cool bars and pubs to hang out in. Exuberance and possibilities ruled the day and the future promised even better to come.
    Take me back. We were completely lied to.
    This time period is a dystopian nightmare!!!!

      When you grasp the true meaning and the reality of it all it is very moving. This one forgotten 80's song lays out in beautiful simplicity the actual history of our universe. Take this song as the truth of the matter, melding the core of all major religions into a 5 minute song. There is the single creative spirit, his creation and creative counterpart Indian traditions call Shiva and Shiva's dance being the Hide and Seek. I would suggest anyone interested in exploring this to look up two terms. "Ein Sof" and "Solar Logos". This song is quite simply about Ein Sof and Solar Logos.

    • @guidedmeditation2396
      @guidedmeditation2396 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      BTW the hide and seek is birth and death .... so that with each new life you must seek again. At the end of the day there is only one consciousness. Our small portion of consciousness contained in our temporary vessel/body must learn and forget over and over again.

    Howard Jones was a giant of the eighties. His synthesiser expertise was obvious. The songs that went with them hauntingly brilliant. Hide and seek was my fave being a twenty year old at that time. I salute you SIR for your contribution to the eighties scene. If I get a reply that would be the icing on the cake.

    What a talented guy. He should be in the hall of fame. This song gives me tears tbh. A timeless masterpiece that should be played when mankind is gone like a legacy of soul and passion in an eternal void. A powerful message of a civilization that existed for a short time in the universe. Maybe no one will ever hear or understand it when we are gone but Howard was one of the best in an era when music was the ultimate expression of feelings and artistic excellence

    Howard Jones was ahead of his time with his songs and, most importantly, the lyrics and messages behind them. I've been listening to Human Lib a lot more frequently; from what I understand from his songs, he is trying to send a vital message to humanity through his music. "Hunt and Self" and "Conditioning" are as powerful as this one is. It's only up to us to decide whether we want to improve and thrive as a human species and one day conquer the stars or fall into war and deprivation and get sent back into the stone age.

    Anyone who understands this song, well done.
    For you understand the entire purpose of creation is nothing more than a wonderful game.

    • @philiprhodes5537
      @philiprhodes5537 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and a game we all consent to play before we arrive here..
      The real purpose of each life experience is to learn lessons about the self and to progress on a spiritual level for each lesson we learn..
      We are all connected as one because we all come from the same source where we all go back to eventually…
      This planet is merely a breif encounter we experience as a spiritual being living a human exsistence and is a test to see how we deal with certain aspects of this life that we encounter…
      The line he sings ‘hope you find me in you’ is a perfect example of how spiritual Howard jones is because what he means is that we are all intrinsically linked as one from the same source so you are me and I am you and we’re merely a different expression of the same source energy…
      I don’t mind admitting this song brings tears everytime I hear it because as things stand people are so divided by opinions politics and religion they will never realise we are all actually the same and from the same place where we will go back to at the end of this lifetime experience

    There was a time when there was nothing at all
    Nothing at all, just a distant hum
    There was a being and he lived on his own
    He had no one to talk to, and nothing to do
    He drew up the plans, learnt to work with his hands
    A million years passed by and his work was done
    And his words were these...
    Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
    Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
    Hope you find it, hope you find it
    Hope you find me in you
    So she had built her elaborate home
    With it's ups and it's downs, its rains and its sun
    She decided that her work was done, time to have fun
    and she found a game to play
    Then as part of the game
    She completely forgot where she'd hidden herself
    And she spent the rest of her time
    Trying to find the parts
    Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
    Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
    Hope you find it, hope you find it
    Hope you find me in you
    There was a time when there was nothing at all, nothing at all
    Just a distant hum

      Totally agree. Problem now is you have a certain limited number of song writers in the music industry that write mediocre songs. Ie they are rubbish. We need more independent artists again. Yes the word Artist actually to mean artist not karaoke.

    Absolute masterpiece! They don't come round too often ... best to spot them when they do! And talk about lush synth padding ... that's how it should be done!

      Young boys had to dream of Therese Bazaar,Kim Wilde,Madonna(ok but not sexy)and Sabrina Salerno who could turn a boy into a man she didn't have many songs but she did have some big hits(or have i made a spelling mistake)!

      Richard Miles I agree, with regards to the music, but I like 2015 better than 1984 in most other ways. society has come a long way since then and I would not want to go back to 1984.

    • @helmethead72
      @helmethead72 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      vutEwa I'd go back in a shot. We live in a total 1984 scenario today than the real year Orwell's book was set in. We live under the kind of blanket surveillance the Stasi would have relished, young people did not leave university saddled with gargantuan debts, young people could make a life for themselves without being dependent on mummy and daddy and the idea of 50% youth unemployment would never be tolerated as it is across much of the EU. Today's hysterical safety obsessed culture is pathetic. We had to live under the continual threat of nuclear holocaust between the US and USSR. Now we're frightened to ride our bicycles without the sort of equipment an NFL linebacker would wear. Give me the 80s anyday and the music was original and didn't hinge on who won the latest talent show.

      +helmethead72 So true my friend, just reading your comment listening to the music made your words more prolific,we do now live in an Orwellian nightmare,today's music is used to brainwash kids,and gangster rap helps to encourage violence which keeps their private prisons full,I won't start on the masonic symbolism in the videos and at the awards shows,I'd be here all night.

    • @helmethead72
      @helmethead72 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Barney, the 80's weren't perfect by any stretch.However I consider myself lucky to at least have had the choice at 16 whether or not to stay in school or go out and get a job. Freedom of choice existed then a hell of a lot more than it does today. The sad thing is today's youngsters will have no idea what we're talking about.
      Being spied on 24/7 seems hunky dory to them as long as they believe the bs from the government about it being there to keep them safe.

    I have been a fan of Howard Jones since the beginning and during the 90’s I was forming my own life with someone who brought me down… toward the end of that relationship I found Howard again and have never stopped listening and catching up all he done in the 90’s/early 2000’s… was meant to see him in Florida and the intimate concert was cancelled a week before (I was gutted), hope to see him in concert one day (first time in 1985).
