Great series on Ecuadorian reptiles and Malena is amazing. You definitely had the best person to show you around. You should bring her to Tinley some time soon.
Oh that clouded tree boa was gorgeous! And the milk snake. In fact I love them all! 😄 And what a wonderful lady - she's doing such amazing work helping to conserve these vulnerable creatures. What an amazing place! If I ever have the chance to travel to Ecuador, I’m making sure to visit this one. Thanks for showcasing the awesome work of these badass ladies, Dav! 🐍
Hi Dav I'm fairly new to your channel, and love it, but not new to reptiles. Kudos to Malena she is doing an extraordinary accomplishment. When I was involved in reptiles there were no females and I was always the only one around a bunch of macho, tattooed motorcycle guys. They wanted to know what I was doing at the Herp meetings, zoo tours and outings I went to. I told them I just loved the animals. I bred many kinds of skinks, including Pink Tongues, and my favorite Solomon Island Skinks, having 2 sets of twins. I can go on and on, but will close with just saying continue what you are doing it is bringing back so many great memories for me. I know Tom Crutchfield n was sorry to see his recent injury, if you see him tell him Chris was asking about him. I had the pleasure of visiting him in Florida, sorry for going on, but again thank you.
Thanks! I always will support women in herpetoculture as their contributions are just as significant and important to our knowledge base as anyone else's.

Would you please start with a warning saying for instance 'live feeding in this episode' ? This Vivarium is beautiful! And most special... look at the people who took this higher and higher for education... these women are incredible, completely have my respect! 😎👌 Wow! 👊
I did put a warning about that in the video description, and I always welcome criticism and praise alike :), and yes, I have a tremendous amount of respect for these women and what they have accomplished!

Hope you visit here again. would love to see and hear more, your videos are never long enough haha. I like to think one day I'll travel the world but reality is I'll be lucky if I get to go to Wales lol x
Actually that's what weird; they aren't. They come from a region that longicauda is not known to exist. I need to get down there and see what's going on in that area.
I'd put big money on those being boa constrictor longicauda the small adult size and head spear and body pattern obviously not knowing the origin of these particular animals but if these are found somewhere unknown to be a natural range of bcl I'd say they have a larger distribution than previously thought in equador.
@Joe Volvo I've been keeping for 15 years now, there is just no real need to feed live in situations like that. I understand in the WILD its nature but these animals are not in the wild. Snakes get zero benefit from livefeeding Vs prekilled, the snake is more likely to be injured and the prey will suffer longer.
There's guys here who would kill for those boas, even to borrow for captive breeding lol. They look like long tails (Longicuada) or Argentines. Regardless, locality boas are so awesome, and can be as little as 5ft as adults, even smaller for Mexican and island boas. Great for people who want a boa but can't provide the space.
Please put a warning in the beginning of the video if there in a live feeding. People come to watch the video not to read the description, so it’s better to put it in the video not the description. Also thank you for supporting women in this industry and those amazing women at that facility, they are doing amazing work.
Callie’s Critters or just read the descriptions and he can keep making the videos how he wants, his channel after all. If you can’t handle an animal feeding maybe this is not the hobby for you

There are so many animals and plant species that are endangered or extinct because of humans , this situation seems to worsen as the years go and ppl still don’t see they are literally destroying their home.
How the hell haven't I seen this video wtf an it's a couple years ago too huh ? This really makes me want to just look up the local university and just start doing biology something with zoology biology any form with reptiles or animals.
@@funkehouse My comment was not directed to you It was to Dav Just in case little kids were watching to maybe not show live feedings And yes I did see the live feedings note
Kids that aren't old enough to know how animals feed should even on TH-cam anyways. Additionally, live feedings demonetize the videos and that's why I would be worried, I want Dav's channel to do well so he can keep making content
@@donnamorgan144 Why not let kids watch it so they can learn and understand that this is completely normal and natural. I don't see how hiding the truth from kids about how the world works helps any. Kids can handle a lot more than most adults give them credit for. People should understand that in a video about reptiles you might see them eating. Besides the fact that it's a parents job to make sure that the content their child is watching is appropriate, it's not the responsibility of the person making the video. If a parent has concerns about what might be in a video, then the parent should review the video before allowing their child to watch it. Parents need to take some accountability. Personally I found it fascinating being able to see the live feeding as that's not something I often get to see, I'm glad he left it in the video.

Yeah, not all countries have a frozen-thawed feeder industry. Where I'm from we only have frozen pinkies. The adults (snakes), we feed them live food.
